Critters and CrittersCurrent mood: drainedCategory: Jobs, Work, Careers
We sold a TON of fuzzy beasties for the Holidays. We had no piggies, no Euro Males, Gerbils of either sex, and a dwarf Evil female or weasels. Certainly made cleaning easy. LOL But we didn't sell either Penny or Chip. Which makes me sad. They're nice bunnies! And I found out the other day that we're not carrying bunnies anymore so they're up for adoption. Chip got adopted out on Thursday, so Penny's alone. We got 3 more ferrets: a white, a medium and a dark one. The last one we got was such a little shit! I called her Shredder. And I've finally healed up from the bites and clawmarks. I brought the camera in the other day to take pictures of some of the little fuzzys I take care of. I noticed in Hanover, if I took pictures of my critters, that they sold within a week...I wonder why that is?So I got pics of Penny and Chip and Chip got adopted. I got a pic of Visine the albino Teddy Bear Hamster. She's all white except for her red eyes. Sweet too.We have some gorgeous rats in too. Black and White, Peach and White, a lovely Grey and White male and some that are marked like Siamese cats.Unfortunately I had to sell a fancy rat for food the other day.. but we didn't have any plain white ones left. Friday, I was on the step stool cleaning a tank of evil and an older guy comes up and asks where the snakes are. I told him that they were in the middle of the store, in the reptile section, and resume cleaning. About 5 minutes later he comes back and asks where the snakes are again. So I get off the step stool and take him over. He's saying something about his redtail being a bastard and looking for something different. I show him the tanks with our gang in them...And all of a sudden, I see (insert dramatic music here) a friggin scorpion looking for a way out...Now All of you know how much I LOVE scorpions...NOT he wanted to know how much it was and I was like $15, but I'll find out for sure. So I go to Steve who's at the register and ask him what the actual price is. They're $20. I ask him he can take care of the guy and beat feet back to the fuzzys. If it's just laying there, that's fine...but when it's looking for ways to escape and it's a humungous mother fucker...I ain't goin' near it...Steve wasn't keen on doing it either, but I got the "I'm a girl" excuse to pull out of my hat. I know it was horrid of me...but it was that or they find me on the floor with one of those armoured beasties pulling up my eyelid to see if I was still at home...

It’s been a busy month!Current mood: worriedCategory: Life
This is a synopsis of my June and July.
First of all Mike DID have to go to Summer School. That's what happens when you get straight F's in History... We have to shell out $170 for it too...hooray! NOT! But Mike has to pay for his summer school. Ernie has a plan to get him to do well...If he gets an A, he'll get his $$ back, a B half, a C $50. So far it's been good incentive and he's doing well.
06/25 Obelisk and I were the only ones up early this morning...how depressing. Ernie drove out to Framingham to have lunch with his college buddy, Danny...he's about the only friend that Ernie communicates with... I worked so I'm beat. I did Iso, which is the sick critters...and I managed to have 3 parakeets out of 9 escape...I had eye goop to smear on a hamster and a ferret, liquid medicine for the parakeets because the girl who was the keyholder didn't know how to do it...oy...she doesn't know small animals either...So I did them too. I also cleaned out all the hamster cages...I managed to suck a black Euro (one of the few nice ones) into the vaccuum...I was expecting hamster hash, but except for a few broken nails and a scratch on his nose he was fine. Then we got a shipment of small animals in too...so I was cleaning and putting them away...we got some fancy Short Haired Hamsters and I put them in and the one that was already in there went after them...3 out of the 4 ended up on the floor and I wound up taking the mean one out...and the fourth one got under the habitats...and I couldn't get him. The mean one went after them and was kicking them, literally, out of the habitat. Jeeze. I wound up getting everything finished by 1:30 and got the cart cleaned and was gone by 2...
06/19 I worked harder than I have in a long time at work today...some of the animals cages were stinky so I cleaned them right down to the floor...They had a novel new thing at the Quincy Petco to clean the old bedding out of the cages instead of using a scoop...it's called a shopvac! Can you believe it?!!!
I cleaned both cages of mice, small rats-male and female, and medium female rats...OMG!!! it was so darned easy!!! Then I went onto the ferrets and did some of theirs and half the bunnies that was wet...the bottle must've leaked. I finally finished around one. And was on the register for the last hour so the other girl could check in the fish order. One of the ferrets kept getting near the vacuum hose and finally I just sucked him up...LOL the look on his face was priceless! Needless to say he didn't bother me again.
06/21 I got to sleep in today...til about quarter to 8! There's a yard sale at the Weymouth animal shelter this morning, then a Pow Wow this afternoon...I invited my sister along...she's never been, so it should be fun... We did 4 loads of laundry yesterday too, so I was pretty tired. When Mike came back from his friend's house, he was starving...I was in the middle of making Moussaka for Ernie and me, well mostly me...but I had to stop and put on a pot of water for spaghetti for him. And he was late coming home by like an hour...so that set me back. I heard the hawk and got Obelisk in and she proceeded to tell me how horrible I was for not letting her be eaten by a hawk...She wound up getting on my last frayed nerve...so out she went...At least the oven started easily....Then Mike keeps asking when his is ready (2 strikes on the last nerve) ...and I tell him that the water's just boiled and it would be a few minutes more...Ernie comes in the kitchen and because I don't have a ton of counter space I have dishes and pans on the floor and he's like This is getting out of hand...YOU have to do something about this! (third and last strike on the last nerve). Let's see. I have meat balls in the microwave. I have more eggplant roasting in the oven, I have spaghetti in a pot, I have a bechamel sauce that needs to be stirred constantly, I have the meat sauce on the step stool, I have eggplant in a dish on the floor. I have the flour and the measuring cup on the floor...HOW in the name of the GREAT Goddess am I supposed to do that too??!!!! Everything finally gets done, my Moussaka is in the oven to bake and I am just dripping sweat...so I go out back for a breather...then I hear pots and pans...he's just put the pan where I had the Bechamel sauce cooking in the sink and put cold water into it! ARGH!!!! If you put cold water into a hot pan you can buckle the metal...So now I toss Obelisk off my knee and have to go and start dishes...Then Ernie says to me, " if we were going to have this, why'd you make spaghetti?" "Because it was quick and easy for Mike" Then you shouldn't have made the whole box...Do you have any idea how hard it was not to dump the whole thing over his head??? Then I went out back and called my sister to invite her...and I saw a flash of lightning over the house behind us...then it felt like someone hit me in the head with a hammer...I came back in and my Aunt had the great timing of calling me...She yapped for 45 minutes and I have no idea what she was talking about...I got off the phone, took an Excedrin Migraine and went to bed...
I actually bought stuff that I needed at the Dog Pound yard sale. LOL I bought a radio so I can bring my good one back in...Ernie threw a hissy when I put it out there. It was $5! with a CD player WOOT! And I got a new couch cover for $3. My sister and I went to the PowWow and had a nice time. My arms got fried though...We had some lemonade: mine had cranberry and strawberry and my sister had 2 blueberry. She had her first taste of Buffalo and thought it was pretty good. And she had a corn cake which is baked cornmeal with scallions, and whole corn in it...I had buffalo on a stick with wild rice that had squash, corn, scallions, black and red beans in it, and butternut squash. My sister bought a cute teeny bag and another rabbit fur bag. I bought some beads that I actually needed and a Kokopelli hat...Now I'm flat broke, but it was fun.
06/22 I spent some time this afternoon cleaning out the pass through from the kitchen to the dining room...I brought my radio back in and I cleaned and dusted all the stuff. I posted some stuff on FreeCycle too. Next on the list is the credenza so that Ernie can put his new wireless printer on it. Ernie and I were sitting out back on the porch talking and Obelisk came in looking like "And just what do you think YOU'RE doing in MY room?"
06/23 Still cleaning and Freecycling...I really can't stand people who say they want things then never show up...I've had 3 people to that to me...And one has the nerve to ask for more things that she will never pick up...doom on that!!! Another one is I wanna boat, I wanna car, I wanna laptop...It's freecycle not a wish list...
My FIL called Ernie about reading a thing about hip replacement. I guess he got caught in a downpour and pulled over, so my MIL, thinking only of herself, once again, called her daughter in NH hysterically wanting her to call the hospital and find out where he was...Everytime he leaves the house by himself, she thinks he's dead...and that she'll be left all alone...It's getting ridiculous...my FIL was in Physical Therapy and they were overbooked and he was late getting taken. Then the Valet Parking took forever getting his car and then the downpour...Goddess knows why Marie couldn't have called the hospital herself....so Magda wouldn't have all these long distance calls on HER phone. If Ernie doesn't call by a certain time, we get the frantic phone call, Is everything alright? We were worried...If we weren't alright, wouldn't we have called from the hospital, duh? But we can try calling them and they don't have the phone hung up right and call for hours and it's our fault that we couldn't get through...argh!
06/26 I went to work this morning and one of the girls was out front...I figured she was having a butt before she went in, but NOOO>>>>the person who was supposed to be opening this morning text messaged the manager at 5 this morning and say that she wasn't coming in...ARGH!!! Amanda, the manager, was on her way to a manager's meeting in Dartmouth, which is almost into Rhode Island. The other girl that was waiting called Amanda and she said that she'd be there as soon as she could... The other girl, Lauren, went across the street to a little drug store. I went to BK and got something to eat, because I was starving already. Then we waited...we had two groomers show up too so we had a lovely little group waiting outside Petco for 2 whole hours... It didn't help that I was so darned sick that I nearly called in last night...sorta glad I didn't even though I can hardly hold my head up right now. I have the terminal drippy and stuffy noise, cough and itchy throat...It's the stupid allergies, dangit!!! I heard the Blue Jays making a racket this morning and I was like shut the heck up you idiots! Then because they didn't, I went out to take a look and all three of them were looking into the rhododendron next to the dining room window and shrieking their guts out...The hawk was in the the tree...remind me NOT to tell the Crows in Blue Suits to shut up next time... Ernie was like, we'll go to Hilltop and we can get something for dinner because I didn't take any thing down...Like I feel like cooking anything...we'll make due with leftovers...and I'm hitting the hay very very early under the influence of drugs... I managed to suck up half of a ferret today and a small female rat...joy!
58 degrees sounds awesome!!! It's muggy and hot today, blech...We had some rain last night. I had to stake my tomatoes and I still have the 5 that DH brought home from work to plant...I have three teeny tiny microscopic practically baby cherry tomatoes. And a bloom on my White Eggplant, and 3 on my Summer Squash. I have buds on my peppers too. I put the couch cover I bought at the Humane Society Yardsale on the couch...I washed it to get the dog hair off and it didn't come off! But I'm not gonna complain too much...$3 compared to at least $60, nah!! Obelisk has been laying teeny little quail eggs for the past few days and today it was a soft shelled one...it's almost time for her to start moulting anyways...She usually starts in July and the first day of July IS tomorrow... I work on Thursday this week. And after that, I dunno...We'll find out in the next couple of days which session of Summer School Mike's taking. I spent a ton of time last month cleaning and straightening the parlour because it needed to be done and it looks like crap again...And Mike's about as helpful as a dingleberry on a bull's behind...I trying to clean again and he's standing in the middle of the floor playing his video game!!!ARGH!!!! No wonder that I blew up at him!!! I told him to get off the couch because I wanted to put the cover on it and because it needed to be cleaned off... When we (Ernie and I) moved the couch we found Lego's, a video game, a dessicated piece of pepperoni and a few stray pieces of pasta....blech... We're going to have to get a hospital bed because Ernie's not going to be able to make the stairs. You can rent them for $180 a month which I guess isn't too bad and it's free delivery and setup...I'm going to hit the Whipple Center for the Seniors for a commode and a bath chair... Mike had better realize that he's gonna hafta get off his scrawny buttocks and do a helluva lot more than he's doing...There's no way in Hell I can do it all myself...I was cleaning in the parlour yesterday too and you think he'd help...nope...I had to drag a container that had Bionicles in it that weighed at least 25 pounds down the stairs. Tellya one thing though, I'm gonna stock up on paper plates and cups, and plastic silverware...No way, I'm gonna be doing dishes all over the place...and if Mike doesn't bring his clothes down to be washed or put them in the hamper, he's gonna go around bare-assed...cuz I ain't gonna do em.
07/02 Mike's dentist appt today...he got his first novocaine...I fully expected to see him running for his life when he saw the needle. After that we went to the inlaws because we didn't go on Sunday because we KNEW that we were gonna be near there today...at 9:30 in the morning my MIL is asking if we want lunch...so we stayed a little later...Our plans were dentist, inlaws, Savers, Long John Silvers for lunch, water, gas, home...so we had 2 lunches... We had a humungous downpour around 4 this afternoon...it was a few drops when I was out with Obelisk, then kablam it was buckets.
07/03 Our Long John Silver's is about 20 miles away...pfft. So it's a treat when we go. I worked today. My manager paged me and I was like huh? She turns and says I think this is yours...and she's holding a bunny..OMG...He's like a tortie with big brown eyes...Some jerk just left him in a box in the parking lot...how awful is that?! I guess this happens alot, but the correct way is to call and ask if we could take the animal and adopt him out...they'd have to fill out some paperwork saying that they relinquish the animal...just dumping it in a box is soo cowardly...must've been a kid's pet that they got tired of...now the parental unit can say that Thumper was eaten by something...grrr... And I have a favourite ferret now...I call him Abra...because he was sleeping even with the others jumping all over him...
"Abra spend 18 hours a day sleeping" just like a ferret. LOL It's not white or black, but sort of a greyish with a white blaze... This one sorta looks like him...
We're supposed to be getting t-storms again...and tomorrow too... My sister called last night and she's gonna take the last week of July off to help us out a little...isn't that nice? 07/04 I didn't do much yesterday except for errands...it was damp and murky all day so it didn't really seem like a holiday. I went Petco to pick up the ice pack I left there and to see if I had any more paystubs there...nope. Then I went off to Joann's...they must've known I was coming because their remnants basket was right out front and 75% off too...jeeze. I got 2 remnants: an African print and a woven basket print. And I found a Southwestern petroglyph print in the bargain aisles...I stocked up on hoops for my DreamWebs because they were being clearanced out. I got double dipped on the coupon too because it was 40% off a single non sale item and 10% off the whole sale for yesterday... I found some drilled cowries at Michael's for the African print and matching thread to use for the weaving. I was thinking because the fabric is a large piece to start it out at the top hanging from a dowel and then attaching THAT to the circle part. I had coupon and I used that for the cowries and there was a gold plated impala/gazelle charm that would go well too...but you could only use on 50% off single item coupon...there's another Michael's up in Braintree, but of course THEY didn't have it...they don't have half as much as the Hanover one does. Then it was off to ACMoore's I got 2 more things of thread to match the petroglyph print and they had these cute little rooster bobblehead thingees...I bought both a white one and a brown one. Then Walmart: noone's got good pony bead selections anymore, but the Hanover Wallyworld does...the Weymouth one is awful, especially since they got rid of the fabric part too...really really cruddy...It's just one side of an aisle, now. But the Hanover Walmart still has a good craft section, thank the Gods. I got 2 big bags of pony beads to match my new fabrics and I got Ernie a pair of Velcro sneakers to wear after his operation... I got him a bathing suit at JCPenney's too...they may have him exercise in the pool afterwards. That would be awesome because it take alot of the weight off your joints. Today we had to pick Mike up from Kevin's because he stayed over. Then we came home and after lunch I wanted to get a DVD that was on sale at BestBuy. You really can't go wrong for paying $20 for something that was $55...I bought both seasons of Carnivale, because I've always wanted to see it AND I have the biggest crush on Clancy Brown who plays the preacher. We used a coupon and I got another $2 off each one! YeaH!!! Since then I've been working more in the parlour. I can actually see the floor. I've swiffered it and wetmopped it too...I even made a list of the videos that we have...blech...we've got too many VHS tapes. LOL I'm up to 80 and I still have another cabinet to go. I want to move YiaYia's chair over to the window and Orange Chair, the recliner a little more into the room so that Ernie can get by with his walker.
07/07 Mike's first day of Summer School...guess it went well. He says that the teacher is cool. That's good to know. 07/08 It feels like August in Wooley Swamp up here..YUK! I have too much to do for it to be so darned hot!!! ARGH!!! I just Swiffer Wet Jetted the living room floor...It looks GREAT! I have to work in the kitchen and the hall... My Aunt called last night and she was pushing for me to come over...I have too much to do to have to deal with her too... Obelisk is starting to moult so buhbye eggness until next March...that's okay...I still have a a couple of dozen... We hit 91 and humid today...blech... My kitchen floor is squeaky clean. I swept, vacuumed, used the dustpan and brush, vacuumed again and then used the Swiffer WetJet...I just took it piece by piece and went around the room...I was dripping sweat...none of that "glowing" for us Yankee girls. LOL I even got out the fridge brush and dug Jimmy Hoffa out from under there. I have to finish the hall and then do the dining room...hopefully it'll all be done by next week and I can relax and be a nervous wreck instead.
07/10 I was gonna go to IKEA and look around, but I didn't because I didn't want to use up the gas...sigh... But I did go to Borders and use my 20% coupon and my $15 Borders Bucks...I bought Mike a DVD/book set about how to play the guitar. And I bought myself 3 books: Mary Higgins Clark Two Little Girls in Blue; John Connolly The book of Lost Things; and David Morrell Creepers. I asked Ernie if he wanted to use my Borders Bucks to buy something for himself at Borders for the hospital and he said for me to use it instead. I was gonna buy one of the new hardcovers that just came out, but I got more cluck for my buck this way.
I played dining room chair Tetris today. Ernie's original chair has a broken arm, so that won't help him much to get up and down. So I had to move the other arm chair over and move the rest of the 6 chairs around so that he'll be able to get in the room with his walker. OMG!!! My FIL is insisting that he needs to be at the hospital...I'll be asking for morphine before the day is out...We're really hoping that my SIL can talk him out of it...I have to drive Ernie to the hospital, go home, get Mike to summer school, come back to the hospital, leave, pick Mike up at summer school, and go back to the hospital until he wakes up...OY! If my FIL comes, I'll just lose my mind...of course my MIL will be calling my cell phone and the house phone every 5 minutes like she did when we were having Mike. She filled up the answering machine asking if he had come yet...WE WERE at the HOSPITAL for 2 DAYS!!!
07/11 I had to work today...Amanda, the manager is on vacation next week and she had 2 fulltimers quit on her in the past couple of days. The girl who didn't show up has been rehired...and we're having some folks in to help out... Every small animal type got out on me today...must've been the day. I managed to vacuum up 7 mice today, including the same one twice...dippy thing. I got to play with Abra a little, but with the store being all messed up, I started late and ended late. We have a bunny in that looks like Miss MoneyPenny..the same orange/copper with grey colours that she had...sigh. Ernie's forking out for pizza tonight. YEAH! Papa John's has a special 3 medium with up to 3 toppings for $7 each...so we can each get one! I was telling Ernie about the new Iphone...jeeze, this was the same thing with Beanie Babies, Furby's and Cabbage Patch Kids.
07/12 The neighbour next door invited us over for a cook out...I almost didn't go because the neighbours who can't me were there, but I put on my big girl panties and Mike came with me and we had a nice time...I missed the blow out of a baseball game and a Kevin Costner interview...but I enjoyed myself. Ernie stayed and watched the game, because he can't take his pain meds until after the operation...oh joy! I had a hamburger, a hotdog, some freshly made potato salad, and some fruit crisp for dessert. These neighbours moved in after Dotty Gormley's hubby, Marty died and she went to live with their son, DIL and their kids. They smoked a LOT and the new people wound up having to take the walls out, right down to the studs. But it came out nice. Malgorzata, the mom is Polish and her mom still lives there. Darius, the dad is German and he's very very handy...he fixed the chimney all by himself...wouldn't catch me up there on a bet. Their little girl Lola, is 2 and rather a handful, but she's pretty. Mal has a college age daughter too who's staying until fall. Mike had fun. He was talking to his friend Colin and it was an enjoyable time. There was me and Mike, Colin's mom and dad and brothers and sister, another couple with their two little girls. They bought my friend Mr. Joe's house. We're going to clean out Comanche, our old Contour who's been sitting in the yard for quite sometime now...MoonShadow, my Contour went with the tranny after him. There's folks that'll give you money for them no questions asked...we have the title for him. He's been paid off. But today we have to go to the inlaws. Mike's complaining about having to go, but dangit! we all gotta do things we don't wanna do...believe me going over there is very painful. Marie's always complaining that she's in pain, then insists on making something, then complains about that! Larry is deaf as a haddock even with hearing aids, and he's having balance problems and keeps falling. He even broke his wrist the last time, but insists on not getting it operated on...It's all malformed now...The TV's are always blasting and they're yelling at each other...But we look at it this way. She's 89 and he's 88. They won't be around much longer and it won't kill Mike to take some time out of his day every other Sunday to sit and be tortured by old people. I'm sure we all had to do it growing up...
07/14 I was getting Mike off to school and tossing a baby grackle out of the back porch. Second bird, I've had in there in two days. Yesterday's was a Carolina Wren ratcheting at me from the door knob and then from the back of a wooden dragon I have hanging... Ernie's freaking because of the old saw, "Birds in the house equal death in the house"...I thought it was just an Italian thing, but it's a Greek thing too... But after doing more research, I found out that it's most likely sparrows that are the baddies... I mean Jeeze, I have Obelisk and she's a bird and we're all fine...She'd be luckier if she was a frizzle though...a black frizzled hen gets rid of all the bad juju... We've already gone to the market and it's almost time to pick Mike up again...pfft. I took pics of my garden last night too. Gotta put em on the puter next.
07/15 Ernie tells me this morning that his parents are coming over Sunday... Isn't that just lovely? I cleaned the hall and Orange Chair and YiaYia's Chair so that they have a place to sit. I washed the bath rugs and one of them refuses to dry...I don't want to put it away damp. I just have to finish the dining room, basically vacuum and put the rug tape down so the edges don't flip up and trip him and clean off the table. I should be able to get that done it two days. Hopefully. I have to take the shower doors off and I was going to use the frame for them to hang the shower curtain on...but it's not going to work. The thing is too big, so I went off to WallyWorld and bought a tension rod. I can use that after all this too. Tomorrow is the ordeal called Preoperative Testing, at the hospital. It's supposed to take like 2-3 hours! I'll have to leave just about as soon as we get there to pick Mike up at school and bring him home, then go back and see where we stand.
just did a google search because Ernie had it in his mind that he's having a stress test...I was like this past week has been a stress test. LOL But it's just a chest Xray, pee in a cup, ECG, and then blood stuff where they gotta see how long it takes for his blood to clot...
It wound up not taking as long as they thought because had a physical on Friday and they did most of that. Too bad the old biddies at the desk were clueless. I spent more time wandering the hospital looking for a fat limping man than HE did getting all tested...
07/16 And the best news of all! My inlaws ARE NOT coming to the hospital on Tuesday...can you tell I'm happy about that? He has to be there at 9:30 and the operation is at 11:30. Then he'll be in recovery for a couple of hours and you can't see him and then I might be able to see him for a few minutes around suppertime. Oh boy.
07/17 OKay!!! I'm officially ready for the funny farm...1 stressor removed so I've gotten another one...I was on the throne this morning. And I hear this awful noise...WTF???It sounded like a rusty wheel trying to be turned...OMG! I finish and run to the back to see if Obelisk is okay, to see if something is frightening her...NOPE! The Ignorant Slut standing on the arm of the chair trying to CROW!! Someone please shoot me...That will be all I need...

I’m employed...I think...Current mood: imaginativeCategory: Jobs, Work, Careers
About a month ago I went into the Quincy Petco. I didn't want to make the hike down to Hanover and possibly run into Durwood...there was one girl on the register and I didn't see anyone else around...so when I was checking out, I said that I worked at the Hanover store and that I wondered if they were hiring because I wasn't getting any hours. The girl told me to call back when the Manager was there...so I did.
Well, she had just hired some people, but would keep me in mind if anything came up. So a couple of weeks ago, I get a call from Durwood, wondering if I could work in the Quincy store for the truck...I called back and said yes, but there was already folks coming up and I wasn't needed. That was okay. The next week, the Manager from Quincy calls to see if I could work on Wed and Thurs this week. Wed I was getting the finishing touches to the never ending rootcanal, which is another story in itself. But I could work on Thurs. So I did...
I got to Quincy right on time...I parked up on top of the garage...I couldn't get in...WTF? So I figured that when I worked at the ShoeTown on the Parkingway, was park on the garage...so I did and went and parked on top of that garage...I crossed the two streets and got to the store. I tried the doors. Those are locked too. WTF? They knew I was coming...so I banged on the glass. Nothing...so I called...I guess the side door is the one that's open at the butt crack of dawn..oy...
The Manager asked if I knew how to do small animals...I said yes so that's what I did...Their cages are so different than Hanover's. But she said that they'll be getting an upgrade in October.
The Quincy Store gives their Guinea Pigs and Bunnies fruit and veggies-we don't.
They give their Hamsters and Gerbils Cabbage with the Benebac on it...not just dumped on the food.
They do things differently there...but that's okay..it'll take me a couple of times to get things up to speed.
The Manager, who's name is Amanda seems nice...she wants to make a schedule that someone comes in and works in opening the animals, then goes home...and that would be 5 days a week...That would work for me...
She also said that Durwood told her that she can HAVE me, like I'm a piece of meat or a trading card...But that's okay...he's had so many people quit and just plain old leave...Hell, there's been over 40 people that have left that store since I started.
One of them is now at Quincy...she likes it better there even though it's farther from her house. It's actually closer to me though..
We'll see how things go.
It's a very low key store, sort of like ours when Durwood isn't around...and the manager actually works and helps customers...which is another big difference too...she doesn't hide in the office.
But I got bit by an Evil Dwarf Hamster and gnawed and clawed by Ferrets so nothing really changed LOL

PPPFFFFFTTTT....
As good as last week went this one's made up for it...It was vacation week...sigh and we did absolutely nada!!!
I worked on Tuesday a full shift...I didn't feel like moving when I got home. LOL
On Wed we went to NH to see Magda and cousin George...that went okay...I bought my nephew his Bday gifts and got me a Serj Tshirt...I was torn between Eddie on a camel, but Serj won...
Thurs worked again...got sent home an hour early, but at least I got to see the start of the ball game.
Also on Tues, I noticed Penny having trouble getting up on the chair...I figured she was tired or something...all that free ranging..
Wed she was sitting on her bum bones, not a position that a bird usually is found in...But we went to NH anyways and I was a wreck. I fully expected dead bird when I came home, but she was alright. But she had both legs stretched straight out in front of her...crud...so I posted on BYC...and waited...I didn't get any responses so I called the VCA down the street...$95 to see her before 8 and $130 after 8...Ernie was pissed! But I stuffed her in the car carrier and off we went...I gave them all the info and they took her away...I sat and cried for over an hour in the waiting room...They had me sign paperwork with all sorts of high numbers, YIKES!!! If she was going to stay over night I could've put her up in a hotel for cheaper...forget Xrays and meds...I'd be on the short track to the poor farm. Finally I was called in and the doctor on duty had me take her out and let her look at her...Penny was being a lump on the slippery floor...I got her to stand and walk a couple of steps...The Dr. tested her hip and we got a lovely crunch! sound on the left one, which is the one that I thought was hurt...I felt a strange lump where there shouldn't have been one...
The Doctor put in a call to the Exotic/Avian specialist. He tentatively diagnosed her with Marek's Disease, which is a fatal (to birds) herpes virus. Unless she was vaccinated as a chick, she'd be susceptible to it...I don't know if Obelisk was either...either way, they'd be giving it to each other...So they could keep her overnight. (NOT!) Then anesthetize her and Xray her hip...I said no, because I couldn't afford it...If it really is Marek's there's nothing to do anyways, except to wait for the inevitable...More critters, and people die while their under than I want to think about...
She's eating well and drinkin and wanting to be outside...hell, if I was on my way out, I'd rather be outside too...If it IS just her hip, somehow I've got to get it back where it belongs. I just don't want to hurt her more. I don't even know how she could've gotten hurt. Maybe she flew and landed wrong or one of the neighbourhood darlings threw something and hit her. I dunno...

Right now it's just wait and see, but at least I'll be home to keep an eye on her next week because AGAIN I have no hours...I guess they took the fish girl back, so off I am again...

It’s official...I am now a D-D-D!!!
We used to have a mentally challenged person come in and dust the shelves a couple of times a week...
My job for the past couple of times has been: to dust the shelves...so I guess after all this time, my know-it-all teenaged pain in the ass kid was right...
I AM A D-D-D!!!
And I'm proud!!!
If you don't know what a D-D-D is, then you need to explore Comedy Central more...
It's from Carlos Mencia, who's very funny and can get away with insulting everyone. He even did the D-D-D song in a nursing home that had folks with cerebral palsy because they ASKED him to!

I’ve been busyCurrent mood: nauseated
It's been a long few weeks...I've been busy with work, if you can believe that!! I actually have been getting a few hours. woot!
Too bad it's now when I'm trying to get some work done on my Etsy store...a sale would be nice. LOL
I've had more migraines this month than I've had in a whole year...wtf is up with that?! I had one Saturday spent the afternoon in bed. Then I got another one yesterday along with a bloody nose and a less severe one today.
I broke out and had an asthma attack doing small animals on Monday.
Yesterday, I had to go and put my Aunt's over the toilet shelf together...What fun that was...
I got there about 11 and every five minutes it was, "Do you need help?" "Can I help you with anything?" The best was when she was watching Maury and was asking me if I had seen what had just happened on the TV...I happened to have had my head under the fucking toilet installing the damned thing, so NO I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING!!! I was very close to going home and bringing back Slifer's muzzle and slapping it on her. No wonder I had a migraine...
I know she's had a stroke and stuff and her short term memory is shot all to Hell, but I've seen those pictures of my cousins and their kids 5 times already! And NO! I haven't heard from your lazy worthless tramp druggie of a daughter, or your fucking worthless piece o sheet boyfriend or your brother!!!And I could give a flying Ostrich Splort less...SO STOP ASKING ME!!!!
She thinks my son is 8 and he's 14. She thinks that my sister has 5 kids: she's got 4. She's wanting to get her car up here so that she can sell it before her daughter does. But she wants me and her friend to drive her down there to get it AND ME to drive it back up here...UMM, NO!!! It hasn't been driven in a year, let alone started...I can imagine all the crap in the fuel line...And I can just picture myself being stuck someplace.
And she was calling and asking about a piece of paper that she got in the mail that looked important and might be for her taxes...Couldn't have been THAT important because she couldn't find it yesterday...
Her friend from the building is a loon...no insult to those beautiful birdies...But at least she takes her out when she goes...except that she doesn't like to get up before Noon! By noon, I'm half done!
The only thing that I'm looking forward to this weekend is the Super Bowl...GO PATS!!! LOL
They were showing some snippets of ads for the game and there's another Anheiser Busch one that I know I'm gonna cry over...I really hate when they do that. Tom Petty's doing the halftime show so the FCC can be assured that he'll keep his clothes on...But then again I heard that that pedophile extraordinaire will be doing something too because it's 25 years of Pepsi or some shit. Wasn't he filming a Pepsi commercial when he hair caught on fire?? I think I'd avoid that again...

Yike a doodle doo!
It's now December...I feel so awful that I've neglected my Myspace...sorry to all of my loyal readers, who don't mind being bored silly sometimes...
Let's start from the past few days...
My Xmas shopping is completely done. And I wrapped it all yesterday...hate me if you will, but I've been in retail for 30+ years and I'm damned if I wanna be running around like Mike the Headless Chicken the week before Xmas...nope, no way! This is what I'm gonna be doing while the rest of you brave the raping and pillaging hoards...
I'll give myself a week off and then I'll start the Xmas baking...If I start too early, we'll eat it all. LOL
My manager is only giving me a whopping one day a week for a total of 2 and 1/2 hours...that's basically enough time to clean one dept. Last week, the new fish person flaked so it was me, Dan , Kim and Janice, who came in an hour earlier. I was supposed to leave at 10, but stayed, because it was Dan who asked. I'd do it for Dan, or Amanda or Josh or Merra, but Durwood can pound sand...
So I'm trying to find another job, which isn't exactly splendid this time of year...I know most registers, and can learn products pretty easily...I actually have almost 10 applications out and not a nibble anywhere...I've tried:
Borders
Barnes and Noble
Zoinks
The Toy Box
Learning Express
Whole Foods
Kohls
Magic Beans
Noone's getting any hours, so it's not just me, this time...Durwood's gonna loose all the good help and be stuck with idiots who don't know a damned thing.
And the original fish girl, JenL, is going back to school. good for her, but I'll miss her...She really knows a shitload about them all, even the salts...The Saltwaters intimidate me, because Goddess knows, I'd hate to bump off a $50 fish...
Merra's a team lead...HOOORAAYY!!! She'll get a ton of experience. She's fair and she actually works, unlike one of the managers who shall not be named...(cough Durwood cough)
Lisa's gone: she went while I was out. She's working a couple of jobs. One's at the Mall at Bath and Body Works and the other is a specimen collector...Hey, listen a job's a job's a job! I shovel shit for a living! LOL
A couple of the folks that I never even met have evaporated too! Oh well, what can you do.
Mike's doing absolutely shitty in school...still fucking up with the homework. He got 2 F's, a C- and an A in Gym. I don't know how you can't pass gym these days...I emailed the teachers and got some emails back. They told me that he's not been doing the homework, not participating correctly in class, doing crappy conductwise...Man!!! SOOOO, when teacher conferences came around we went to the Guidance Office and got the infamous Pink Sheets, which are green this year. Now whatever homework he has, he has to write down, have me sign the sheet and the teacher sign the sheet...So he can't get away, "I have no homework" anymore.
So far so good. I have to email the teachers again to see if he's keeping it up.

I''ve been done with PT for a couple of months now...these past few days, my shoulders been killing me. It's cold and damp. I haven't been keeping up on the exercises but I've been doing them NOW! I'm still supposed to be on "light" duty, but I doing the same things I was doing before.sigh.
My Aunt has moved up near me...but it's not really been a good thing...I think she thinks that I need to be at her beck and call every day...well, it doesn't happen like that...
She had the nerve to call me at work. We're not supposed to have our phones on us when we're working, so I could've gotten in a lot of trouble. I didn't because I was leaving when she called, but it wasn't even an important thing to call for...
I hate answering the phone because she's bitching about how noisy it is, Dick's new bimbo, Eve, and the cats...
It'll get quieter when the floor gets rugs on em.
Dick is just a fucking asshole anyways. One day he says, well I think that we need to see other people...the very next day, he brings his new girlfriend to dinner with my Aunt!!! Balls of Brass, I tell ya, Balls of Brass! Now, he's engaged to this dame that he's only know for less than a year and he's known my Aunt for over 20 years...If you think back, though, his wife was an invalid and he cheated on her with my Aunt. Now that my Aunt is an invalid, it's okay for him to cheat on her too! It really is true that a Tiger can't change his stripes!
Eve, "has a family and works" so she can't help her own fucking mother! Let's see, last time I looked, I had a husband and a kid and a job too!! But that's not as important. It's just aggravating! I don't care how bad you might've been as a parent, this is YOUR FAMILY! and you get off your ass and help them!!!
And Dick even had the nerve to call me and TELL me that I had to take my Aunt to her doctor's appointment because he was sick and couldn't do it...I took her to her last one because he was with his fiancee in Maine or New Hampshire or someplace up north and wouldn't make it back in time. Of course, as soon as he knew she had a ride, he was home! Fucker! He called me at 20 to 7 and told me that I had to do it...I said that's nice, I can't. "Well, why not?" Because I'm working. "Can't you just drop her off?" Noope, because I have to be there by 7. "I guess I'll have to do it then." Certainly looks like it, Asshole was what I wanted to tell him. And YES, I really was working that day! The appointment that I took her to, I was sick as hell, but did it anyways, because I had said that I would.
Now, Eve's getting the boot from the free rent where she's been for over a year: Dick's mother's place. Oh, Well, time to grow up. Now that she's got 2 kids from different fathers, neither of whom pay support and she's working 2 jobs and doesn't pay for anything but her food and electric.
And Eve's on my Aunt about her car. "It's losing value just sitting there" "what are you going to do with it?" "Why don't you sell it?" on and on and on.
The same with my Aunt's Beanie Baby collection. "What are you keeping those for?" "My kids aren't going to want THOSE" "You should sell them"
It's money, money, money with this one...If she wants to push the car into the CapeCod Canal, she can. If she wants to keep her Beanies or even if she wants to make a bonfire out of them, she can. They're HERS!
Then there's noone there to watch the cats, Gilligan and Ginger. She thinks that they'll be put down or sent to the shelter when the new fiancee and her 8 kids move in. My Aunt's worried about her things that are still there in one of the 4 sheds that are in the yard. Goddess knows, Eve's probably taken half the stuff up to Maine to her dad's. Dick wants to have a yard sale for the rest of her stuff...Brother, what a mess that's going to be...I'm trying desperately to stay out of it all.
My new car is another Focus...she's a 2003 ZX3 and she's silver. Not my first choice for a car colour though..but her price was right...
Her name is Xicohtencatl, which means Angry Bumblebee, in Aztec.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xicotencatl_the_Elder
Even though my car is a female, I couldn't resist this name! It just jumped out at me. I had been looking at Goddess' names and I was stuck between a couple of them and then I came across Xicohtencatl and that was it! She got her name! She also has a 6 CD changer, ABS, power everything and a remote starter. We even bought her at the same place, Jannell Ford, where we bought Tlaloc. And they came from the same factory, in Hermosilla, Mexico.
I'll do another blog about the fun we had buying a car...it's pretty interesting.
Quetzie and Magic are both in Xicoh. I have my BYC bumper stickers on her too. Ernie wasn't amused until I showed him that they were magnetic. LOL
I'll post most more in the next few days, hopefully.

Been rather interesting...
I've only been working on Tuesday nights. At least it's something coming in...not much, but that's okay...not really.
Eric came back...He said that working at the pizza place was too difficult..whatever...it makes me not to have to be on the register.
I was in fishies this past week..It took me forever to get the Bettas in their little containers...I even sold $150 worth of Saltwater fishies. I also sold a Green Iguana and a FireBellied Toad.
The previous week, I was on register and then did drops until I had to do the Iso and Adoption critters.
Last Tuesday, M was on and I told her that Slifer was scratching. His eye looked swollen, so we got him and put him out back.
Speaking of eventful, I told Dan that I could work on Saturday for a couple of hours because M had pinkeye and was contagious. Only problem was the last Harry Potter book was coming out that day... But I had promised Dan and Mike that 1) I would work and 2) that I would take him to get his book.
We didn't get home until almost 2 and I was up at 6...blech...tired wasn't even the word.
So onto this week...
It's been rather sucky...especially Friday...
Tlaloc was killed by another car on Friday.
Mike and I were driving up to Newbury Comics so he could get a set of Stikfas that he wanted and it would be busier on Saturday.
We were almost there when KaBam! The fucking idiot didn't even look...just went right into us.
The seatbelts locked and the airbags deployed, which is what they were supposed to do.
I couldn't get out of the car, because the door was screwed up. It was sort of a good thing because I would've killed her, if I had been able to get out quicker.
As it was, I got out of the car and asked her if she was a fucking idiot!
She's out of her car, a Taurus wagon, and looking at Tlaloc, and asking "what do I do, what do I do?" let's see...stand still so I can be the holy crap out of you? Hmmm?
Mike was fine. He had a burn on his arm from the airbag and a tiny sliver of safety glass in his arm too.
I had a huge bruise on my neck, another one on my breast and a huge one on my arm. I found another one yesterday on my stomach. I even bit my tongue and the sides of my mouth and was bleeding.... I wound up going to the hospital, just because of my neck. Mike was okay, but I wanted him to get checked out too.
I spent 3 hours on backboard and in a cervical collar. I had the joy of calling Ernie at work and telling him that we were in the accident. I had to use one of the cops' phones because I had forgotten mine...I'm almost always carrying it too. I had a dozen Xrays taken. Mike got to play with the siren. Lucky!
Ernie was relieved that we were okay, but pissed about the car...not anymore than I was though...
I still wanna find out where she lives and punch her in the nose!
So when we got home, I had to call the insurance company...they ask you questions, and if your points are over 22...then your car is the next tuna fish can...Tlaloc had 30 points. He was leaking fluids, they had to pry up his hood to shut off the horn/alarm, the airbags went off...shit...
I'm pissed because I hadn't even put 3,000 miles on him. I hadn't taken him to the carwash or gotten an oil change, or used the fold down rear seats or even the 6 CD changer. it just really sucks.
I sort of feel bad for the lady because she said that it was all her fault (NO SHIT) and that she was coming from hospice for her uncle and she wasn't paying attention...but still!
She even admitted it to the cops that she was at fault...
So yesterday Ernie and I went to the station to get a copy of the Police report...can't get it til Monday.
So we went to the impound lot to get the few things left in Tlaloc. The first things I grabbed was Hermes, my registration, Quetzalcoatl and Magic....Monday there too...wasted trips then.
The insurance company is going to tow his carcass to Lancaster...I have no idea where the hell THAT is...I know where it is in PA, but not in MA.
I called work and had Amanda put me in for time this coming up week and next week too...I might even have to quit because I have no way to get there. That really sucks...I mean we couldn't afford both cars anyway and then Durwood only had been giving me a couple of days, so that was killing us. Now this...we won't be able to afford another new car, especially if the Insurance company doesn't give us enough to pay off the loan.
The only good thing is that we're going to Philly still...
My sister's gonna chickensit and take in the mail.
I really really miss my car...it seems this is the time of year for shitty things to happen.
My mother died on July 23, Tlaloc went on the 27th, and Slifer died on August 8th. I think next year, I'll just fucking hide under my bed this time next year.

This past week...
It hasn't been outrageously busy...I trained a girl for Small animals and on the registers. I did mostly reptiles though...Haven't done birdies since last week...
We sold the mean Ball Python, thankfully, but we also sold Buddy, my bestest snake friend, the Leukocystic Rat Snake, and Smokey the Gargoyle Gecko. I had some little boys that wanted to hold a snake and I dug all the way to the bottom of the enclosure and Buddy wasn't there... That was sad...I hope he went to a nice home. I had to change the Crabby habitat; it was extremely stinky.
On Saturday, the 12th I went to the open house at the Mass Humane Society down the street...I can't believe that people think that animals are throw away things! There was a cat, an orange LH tabby named Oscar that they found dropped outside the place with a bag of food and a crate. There was a purebred Lhasa Apso that was obviously a Granny dog and Granny must've bit the dust and the kids/grandkids didn't want to take care of it and let it loose. There was a Husky/golden mix who had been loose all winter. Probably a snowbird who didn't want to take him all the way to FL. And an American Eskimo, an unused Greyhound, and a Lab mix...There was a passel of cats and a bunny. It made me very sad. The Husky/Golden was really sweet. He liked being scratched through the wire. I only bought some beads, and a back scrubber at their flea market. On the way home I stopped at a church yardsale and bought 2 Parquet pyramids. One for my SIL and one for me...They're very pretty and were quite a steal at a buck a piece.
This past Sunday, the 20th the New England Herpetological Society was having a show. So off I went...Lots and lots of people and mostly snakes. There were some turtles, a pair of hedgehogs. I got to hold a big Boa. They're really heavy and muscular...she didn't want to let go of my leg LOL. There was even a display that had a live Timber Rattler...I got a nice pic of him, but no way I was gonna get too close even if he was in a glass tank. There was a Cornie that didn't want to leave me alone. Whenever anyone holding him went past, he'd stretch out to crawl on me...(shrug). I managed to learn a few things just by listening in...about bedding...I wound up buying a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach at the place. He's a very nice insect. I picked him or did he pick me? He was the only one that crawled out of the container. Mike named him George. I spent $8 on food for him. The guy recommended Flukers so I got it at work. The way that he eats it's gonna last him forever and a day.
Right now I'm watching the NASCAR at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Every other lap, it seemed there was another crash...Tires have gone, Cars are crumpled and Jeff Gordon's 24 almost went ass over teakettle...scary watching it, glad I wasn't in the car.
Mike and I went to Wallyworld and they had a Doritos flavour that was not labelled. It's called the X13D. I think the flavour is a hotdog with mustard and relish or a hamburger. The clues so far are it's an American Classic, a box of French Fries and a Charcoal Grill. It's a strange taste that's for sure...
Tomorrow is Ernie's 60th birthday! It would be Tom and Jerry's 4th birthday too. They hatched on Memorial Day of 2003. Happy Birthday Tom and Jerry!!!
I got DH a copy of Jim Carrey's Truman Show. He had always wanted to see that. I also gave him my Amazon GC for $15 that I won from a survey.
Friday was my best friend's birthday...she's older than me LOL at least until September.
The last few days have been brutal because of the heat...too hot..when was MA ever in the 90's before July? or August? I had to put the fan on for the girls. I have both of them laying again...I'm gonna be over run with eggs again...I'll have some tomorrow. You cannot beat a fresh egg. YUMMY!
DH downloaded a couple of movies. The Prestige with Hugh Jackman, Michael Caine and Christian Bale...Awesome movie! Two Slifer Spurs Way UP!!!
And the other one was Hollywoodland, about George Reeves' death with Adrien Brody, Diane Lane and Bob Hoskins. Another very good movie.
I really want to see the third Pirates movie. Mike's waiting for Transformers. I only have one day this week because I asked for Monday off for DH's birthday. What can you do? I work every Monday Holiday. They'll come around again, but DH's 60th birthday only comes around once. Even his sister sent down a package. I want to get him a big cookie and have happy birthday written on it and put an over the hill candle on it. Not to original, but we might go to Spencer's where they have some funny old timer stuff.
That's about it from here...I'll try to be better at writing...sometimes, the computer eats what I've written and then I lose the connection which just makes me wanna through the darned thing out the window.

Work...
I had 2 short days this week and one long day, but you know how that goes.
I did Slithery Buddies on Tues and yesterday. Buddy still likes me. J2 had me try and feed the cantankerous ball python. I guess he tried to bite her through the glass like 5 times! We started with a fuzzy then went to an adult and it was nothing doing...He was outside of the log just watching me clean everyone yesterday...rather unnerving, because you think that he's imagining you being a large white mouse... We lost another House Gecko and we got in more Bahama Anoles. There's a really pretty one...don't need another friggin' animal...Yesterday we got in more House Anoles, a couple of Rose Haired Tarantulas, a Pacman Frog and some more Long Tailed Grass Lizards. We sold the Jones Armadillo Lizard and one of the Gargoyles too over the weekend.
When I was leaving, L1 was in the office...I hope Durwood didn't give her the boot, but it didn't look like it was going well for her.
Today, Durwood was in, me, Amanda and Kristie...I started birdies...I love my birdies, even the Quakers...sigh...There were some people I didn't know in the store. A woman and two guys. Well come to find out on of the guys was ours and the other guy and the woman were with a cleaning company...Do we see where this is going??The last time that the floor was being cleaned, I had an asthma attack. So today out comes the buffer and I feel my chest tightening up...I go outside and use my inhaler...felt a little bit better. The buffer gets closer. I close the door and start finishing Slifer and Cleo's cage and Marc Antony's. Now I start wheezing too...Out I go again...More inhaler...not working this time...I wind up going home. Durwood wants to know if I need an ambulance. I was sort of okay to drive home. Except for one time when I went out of the lines because I got dizzy...oops....At least I had the nebulizer which is a godsend. And I had the meds for it too. Durwood was wondering why it was bothering me, because it was "only using water." I was talking to Ernie when I got home and he said that the bottle/jug thing on the top has propane in it...so maybe that's what the problem is...
If the nebulizer hadn't done it's job, it was off to Urgent Care...for a few hours wait and Xrays...I'm so glad that we got it the last time Mike was sick...It's basically the same crap that they hook you up with in the ER to unblock the airways and stop the swelling...My chest still hurts, but at the very least I can breathe and I have more of the medicine if I need it...I ALWAYS carry my inhaler, because you never know what the heck might set you off. I have a friend who has an allergic reaction to gasoline...shrug...
On a better note, Mike's grades have come up quite well. He's gone from a D to a B- on his History midterm, a C+ to a B in Science and a C to a B in Spanish...Supposedly he's got a B- in English from an F, but I have yet to see the evidence... As long as he can keep his grades up until the end of the school year...I hope that he can or it will be a very long summer...

Work!
Work was rather okay, last week...It was Durwood less!!!
I got to do Feathery buddies on Wed and Slithery Buddies on Fri. I found out from the guy that bought the Tarantula that bit me died...I'm sad about that...He just wouldn't eat...and he tried everything...bummer. So he got another one...His other spiders are doing fine.
I was even able to put Buddy, the Leuky Rat Snake on my shoulder. He just sat and looked around and looked like he was gloating that Bitchy couldn't get out. LOL. He even held my hair in his tail...
I took out a Firebellied toad that had something similar to Popeye in fish...poor thing. I hope he's okay.
We also had a Zeeb that's got a hurt foot...and his head is plucked bare...he looks awful.
We sold a Quaker too. Thank the Gods...I really don't care for them, but it was the littlest one who's sort of okay.
I spent $20 on birdseed with my coupon and forgot to get the Bio bags for the fish tanks...I ,of course, didn't remember until I was home...grrrr...
We're down and out on fishies at work...the ones that are on sale, we don't have...someone brought in some guppies that had been multiplying, so we stuck them in the tank. Another person brought in Black Tetras, Red Eyed Tetras, Zebra Danios, and Neons. Amanda adopted some and I adopted a pair of Black Tetras and a pair of the Danios. I cleaned the tank and found out that Stinky ate the Ivory Mystery Snail...all that was left was the empty shell...
I cleaned all of the salt tanks on Friday...the salt makes me itchy...I think that does it to alot of us.
We've had trouble keeping the feeder fish. It seems like we haven't been getting enough of them. On Wed, they shorted us a bag of large and gave us an extra bag of small and shorted the amount of minnows...jeeze...
Not that I'd wanna spend my time counting fishies either...

Work...
I got to do Small Animals on Tuesday...Hurray!!! I'm so friggin allergic to furry critters, it's not funny...I had to use my inhaler and it was our Wedding Anniversary and I could just see myself going to the ER instead of out to eat!
Add that to me being on register all day and you have a recipe for disaster...
I found a Black Euro that had bites on him/her, I didn't look for any extra bits. So I went and brought it outback to box him up or make a home for it...So I put him/her on a shelf and step back...CRUNCH..
WTF?!
Please be a cricket!
Hell, no!!!
It was a dwarf friggin hamster!!! AWWW. Shit!!!
It was still running around the back room when I left...in circles, but at least it was still alive...don't know whether anyone found it and put it back, sooo...that's how that goes...
I told Amanda and she said that she did worse. She was showing a hamster at the other store and went to close the habitat and made it into Nearly Headless Nick...blood everywhere...sort of made me feel better, but not alot...I feel guilty because I really, really despise Dwarf Hamsters...They're evil little bastards...
Today, Thurs. I got to do my Slithery Buddies again...We had sold the last Ball Python...happy dance! Of course, we got three more in... Hopefully they're nicer than the last bunch. We also sold the Boa and an Albino Adult Leopard Gecko. Busy week for slithery critters.
So I'm on a chair doing the Longtails and Connie and I see a customer in fish...So I go over and ask if I can help and he made a comment about the humungous Red Cap Oranda which was doing the side float...SHIT!
Now Durwood was in the department, doing Goddess only knows what, but he was pulling deadles! So now I have a customer who wants to know why it's in there and if he should even buy fish from us if they're not being kept alive...I was so embarrassed and pissed that I just kept apologizing and I told him that removing the body was the very next thing on my list even though someone was supposed to have done it....DAMMIT!!!
I also found out that Aline, the Brazilian girl, got fired. Supposedly her "papers" weren't correct...Let's see, she's been working here since before Xmas, and NOW, Durwood has realized that he shouldn't have hired her, or some crap...We've also lost Frances, Lyndsey, a brand new groomer, and Peter Griffin...
I'm really just sad and fed up that the fishies weren't taken out...Durwood has a tendency to scan the deadles' and leave the bodies...Goddess knows why...
On Tues, J1 asked me to do a water change on the Koi tank because we got a friggin ton of them, including 2 of the $75 jobbers...so I was doing that just before I left and he was like "I did that yesterday"...I highly doubt that...and J1 asked me to do it...I think one of the Dog Faced Puffers is on the short list to tuna salad too...he doesn't look good, but I don't wanna be dicking around in that tank because of the lovely Lionfish...ain't gonna happen. I'll probably be in fishies tomorrow too, but that's fine...I don't mind. I'll have algae to scrub...oy...

Work
I got to do birdies for two days in a row...Have I mentioned recently that Quakers such and I really am sick of Bronze Winged finches escaping?
I bathed Slifer, Cleopatra and Mark Antony yesterday and the Quakers and the Suns today...I was cleaning everyone else and it was like the Great Escape! I had a Quaker on the floor, I had one on the top of the cage and the other one in the cage with one of the Suns, the other sun was in the Quaker cage...It was the day when noone wanted to stay where they were supposed to be...A Bronze Wing got out yesterday and today. Then I had to get the Quakers and the Suns back where they belonged...I got bitten for my troubles...
Slifer actually squawked yesterday...He's never said anything since he's been there...Today he and Cleo were both on his swing. He even looked like he was going to try and come out...that's good, because that means that he's comfortable enough to want to look around...which is a good thing with any of the bigger birds. Then the Lineolated Parakeets were tasting me...all 4 of them!!! That's how hookbills find out things. They taste them with their beaks and tongues. I'll have to post the pics I've taken the past couple of days...Goddess knows, I've got a camera full LOL...
Aline was in fish and we got a crap load of Kois in...and Bettas too...Dan said that the Kois are going on sale next week...I was back up for register, but I didn't get up there too much. I was on the floor alot, which is strange...not that I'm complaining...
We got more birdies in: some Budgies, and a White Canary and some Blue Fnches...Like we needed more birds...and then we got more bunnies too...There's a pretty tortie, but I'm so allergic that it's not funny...
I work tomorrow...can't wait for Saturday. I can ...LOL

work...
Need I say more?!
It wasn't bad, Durwood wasn't there!!!
I got to do Slithery Buddies...We must've sold the red Crestie because Freckles is nowhere to be seen. I took out 2 pieces of Green Anole Jerky, extra crispy...and one of the Rainbow Ameivas has got one foot on a banana peel and the other in the grave...They're nice lizards too...so I'm kinda sad. Since he won't be going to the vet, I'd love to take him home...he'd be a special needs critter...I think he's blind from having his 3rd eyelid stuck and he can't find his food, so he's gonna starve...
When I got to the snakes, my friend the rat snake had moulted, Bitchy was bitchy and a couple of the cornies had mites again...I went to clean the Ball Python's cage and the SOB bit me...he drew blood, the miserable thing...That's Bitchy's job!
I had to clean the cricket barrels happy happy joy joy!
Another 3 inches of deadles to be removed...it took me forever to do it too...YUCK!
It seems like the large ones are the worst...Then we got in a reptile shipment. Amanda was putting them out and she went to put a tarantula into a container out back. The people who put it in there put it in UPSIDE DOWN! I thought it was dead and she did too, until it jumped out...she jumped back and bravo me picked it up. I had it walking on me and I was holding it, not moving around or flailing or anything and the sucker bit me! Just not my day for critters, that's for sure. It hurts a little. She went through the thumbnail, but I'm not allergic or I wouldn't be typing right now...
I'm working full shifts for the rest of the week...so I'm gonna be dead tired...considering I didn't work at all last week...
M and J2 are off tomorrow and Thurs. Don't know why that happened, but whatever. And another employee, Eric, whom most of us couldn't stand has left. I thought he'd be there until Doomsday, but I guess I was wrong...He's going to be a host at Bertucci's, the pizza place in the mall...Good luck to him...
Both hens were slackers today: No eggs...but that's okay..I love them anyways.

Work...
SSSD...Same Shit, Same Durwood...
I only got 2 days last week...blech...not gonna make Philly at that rate...I haven't seen anyone either...but Friday all of us were on...except Alene, Lyndsey( a newbie) and Kim...I did Slithery buddies on Friday and Birdies on Wed. I forgot my camera on Wed too, so I couldn't get pics of the new birdies...we got in more Canaries, more Zeebs (I think), some California Parrotlets, that look like the Linnies, a Limey Louie look alike Fancy GreenCheeked Conure and a Blue Ringnecked Parrot. So it's a full house over there.
I also found out that my buddy Bob bit the dust on Sunday...I'm very sad...I know that he was "just a spider", but it doesn't really matter. Any time we lose an animal I feel awful. Even though it's part of running a pet business.
I also got in trouble for telling a couple of my regular customers, Mike and Billy, that he died. You're supposed to say that he got sold or something; not that he died...if you're gonna lie over something small like that, what else are you gonna lie about. I'd rather let a regular customer who was interested in Bob what really happened to him.
I'm sorry, I can't lie about an animal's dying especially when they specifically asked about him.
I guess that will cost me my job...that just means that Durwood will lose a good employee that takes good care of the animals correctly, even if it means taking a bit longer with them.
Wed, I was doing the birds and there was a little green parakeet that came right over and let me pick him up and pet him a little...He's so cute. He looks like he has big old fashioned muttonchops and a blue end to his tail...
The linnies were all hanging upside down like they were birdy Stalactites...I was really mad that I forgot my camera...
The Blue ringnecked was basically crawling all over the Green Cheek.
The Quakers are still being friendly. And the two Suns are really cute too. We sold the one who was in with them...Cleo the Dusky wants to be out and about, but Mark Antony is still rather shy. Slifer the RedShoulder just wants to swing, doesn't even seem like he wants to be friendly...oh well...it's one of those things.
Back to Friday.
Bitchy tried eating me again...Wench faked me out then sank her teeth into my finger and held on for dear life...Have I mentioned that she's ALWAYS been crabby? I went to J1 and said, "Could you help me get her off?" She was like"Is she biting you?" "Yep" "Does it hurt?" "Yep" then we went to the sink and tried drowning her off...She was coiled around my finger so tight, it was turning purple. If I tried tearing her off, I could've hurt her teeth...I'm worried about hurting something that's trying to friggin' eat me...OY VEY!!!
We finally got her loose and I gave her a stern warning about trying it again...My buddy, the Ratsnake is moulting so she can't see worth a damn...I let her sniff me before I went about cleaning her place.
We had another baby iggy die too...that sucks...I think we sold the all striped one...darn. He was pretty. We sold one of the sandboas that we got from Attleboro too. These ones are bigger than the first ones we had and crabby...bummer.
I wound up selling dog food for the time that I was there...now I don't know much if anything about dog food...but I did okay, I guess. We supposed to be having a few people trained in the dog and catfood to give help with the different brands. Of course, you're supposed to steer the customer toward the more expensive stuff.
Mike's on April vacation this week. Ernie took Tues, Wed and Thurs off and I took Thurs and Fri off so that we could have one day together as a family unit...Durwood gave me NO hours, not a one...so if anyone calls out, I'll be called...sort of crappy, but that's okay I guess. I just won't answer the phone...but I'd be more likely to go in if it's Dan or Denise or Amanda.
I'll have to call later in the week and see if I have any hours for the next week.
Good news anyways...
I got eggs yesterday from BOTH Obelisk and Penny!
Today, I'm just waiting for the rain to come streaming into the cellar from the rain that we're getting from the Noreaster. Most of the heavy rain is supposed to be during the overnight hours...figures!
I filled all the bird feeders yesterday; a platform, 2 tubes, 2 finch sox, and a suet cage and they've all been visited today...AND I got a new bird! It's a whitecrowned sparrow...very pretty little bird. I have 3 of them.
I'm still getting aggravated that I can't do anything to get the gardens ready...but what can you do?

Crappy weekend....
Well, I did Slithery Buddies on Friday and had an explosion of cricket leavings: part food, part cricket bits, and cricket doo...
Saturday I got up and had no eyes!!They were swollen shut...Holy Sheepdip Batman!!! I wound up using eyewash, Tucks pads, and as a last resort Benadryl...Goodnight Irene!!!
I finally had some eyes by Monday, thankfully.
Tues I worked Slithery Buddies again...and I was bagging up the crickets...and my eyes started to swell again...
I think I've found out what caused the allergic reaction then, dontcha think?
I only worked til 1 and had boxes for my aunt rolling around in the back of the car...She got the old heave-ho from her trailer for non-payment of rent, but they didn't fix any of the things that needed to be done. Like the floor that you can fall through and the windows that leak like a sieve...
At least she won her suit, so she doesn't have to pay back rent, but she needs to get all her stuff out.
So I've been grabbing the fish boxes for her to pack stuff into...
But it gets even better...
I get a phone call from the school wondering where his midterms were...damned if I know, I've never seen 'em...
So I'm pondering this fine mess, when the phone rings again. It's my Aunt looking for boxes...
!!!BANG HEAD HERE!!!
So I wind up taking Mike and dropping off the boxes at my aunt's and driving over the school where the teacher and I make Mike go through his locker. The teacher said it's the messiest locker she's seen in 34 years of being a teacher...Lovely....
His midterms weren't in his locker.
When I called the teacher back, she said that she asked where the midterms were and he said that he didn't know, that he lost them. So she said that I could send in a note saying that I saw them...well I didn't see them so there was no way in Hell that I was gonna sign off on them. I guess she got attitude from him and that's when she called...
We finally found the midterms in his backpack where they've probably been for the past 3 weeks! There was even a homework in his locker that he would've gotten at least partial credit if he had turned it in. AND he got an "F" in history!!!
Part of that grade was not doing homework, once again. but another part was a worksheet that he had to do on the Pharaohs. Now, Egypt is my love. I know the Pharoahs inside and out and who married whom and who screwed up the country and who fixed it, blah blah blah. I googled the information, I handed him books, I offered to go into the school and teach them about heiroglyphics. He didn't write half of what he needed so he failed that one!!! I was sooooo pissed!!! I basically handfed him the information and he was too fucking lazy to write it down!!!!
So now Mr. LazyAss has no TV, no computer even on the weekends, no game machines. He can contemplate his navel if he wants but nothing else!!
And he has the nerve to give me attitude. "What can I do?" read, clean up the mess that used to be my living room, clean your room.."something fun". with the requisite eyeroll. "How about you're grounded so no fun"...
If he's grounded, how come I wanna scream?!
I almost wanna be stung by a scorpion so I can go to the hospital overnight and get away from all this crap. DH is sulking in his room and I'm at my wits' end...

Today is the first whole day of Spring!

Hooray!!! Too bad is was only 30 degrees though...
I got to do Slithery Buddies...someone was missing though, one of the California Kings bit the dust on Tuesday. I guess he got mites from the Rat Snake next to him...He was found dead yesterday...He was just a miserable person so i never was comfortable enough to pick him up to inspect him..so I really feel bad. On a better note, the second Rose Haired Tarantula moulted, so now I have a set of exoskeletons...Have I told you already that I have no life and that small things make me happy, like Obelisk laying 6 eggs these past 2 weeks! Not bad for an old broad!
I talked to M about the Quakers being friendly and she said it was probably that they were hungry because they throw their food around... Bummer...
I have get some info on the Lineolated Parakeets so that we know WTF we're talking about when someone asks about them...not that that would stop Durwood...
I stayed til 12:10 because I was in the middle of PennPlax shipment and crickets and Durwood asked, but I was gonna stay anyways because I wanted to get it done before I went home. I also saved some of the boxes because Aunt Sue's gotta move out of the trailer by the end of the month. That's another story...
I had Aline check my water and the Community tank was so bad, I'm surprised I didn't have backswimming fish...Nitrites and Nitrates were sky high! So I changed the water this afternoon when I came home. I put Julian and Long John back in their tank...I also figured out why the Community tank was so bad: the filter was a goner! When that happened I have no idea...At least I had a back up.
I also bought another male Betta. He's white with a red spot on his tail and a little bit of colour on his fins. I grabbed him because he wasn't looking so hot...that's usually why I have deadles...but I like to have them in a loving environment at least for a little while.
I want a couple of more fish for my Community tank...I would like to add a couple more Black Neons for my crookback, and we keep getting some really cool looking swords too...I would like a Gourami for Julian and LJ's tank...I'm not keen on them, but we've gotten some really pretty ones.
DH downloaded Little Miss Sunshine from Movielink...It deserved it's nominations! It was really a good movie!
4 Slifer Spurs up!!! out of 5.
Greg Kinnear's character I wanted to dopeslap raw, the little girl was great and Alan Arkin was priceless..
At the dentist neither of us had cavities!!!

I'm slippin' LOL
Not a whole heck of a lot going on...
Work's been work..just not a ton of hours...
BUT>>>we got some new birdies in...Lineolated Parakeets and a Red Factor Canary.
We got a pair of Blue, which is a mutation and a pair of regular Greens. They look a lot like Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, a RedRumped Parakeet...hmm.
The new Canary is my buddy. He'll eep at me and I'll eep back.
IL DIVO the old yellow canary is a bit jealous and wanted to see who I was talking to. So he got out, FIRST TIME EVAH!!! I got him back easily though.
The bronze wings give me a pain in the butt...one of them is guaranteed to get out on me...I worked with the birdies yesterday and damned thing got out. I was able to just snag it out of the air with a net. He wasn't amused.!
This past week we got in 2 Sun Conures, and one that reminds me of Aquila, right down to the yelling. We got more cockateils and parakeets, a slew of Zeebs too. And another trio of Quakers...arghh was what I thought when I saw them...but two of them are really friendly. Scary thought. They came right over and were chewing on my hands and no screaming...
Gotta go to the dentist so I'll finish later...

This week...
Spent yesterday going in and out of Staples, shipping stuff that was won on Ebay. What a pain! I wasn't that bad, but it was friggin cold..Not as cold as Tuesday...Holy Goddess, it was -11 with the windchill...blech
Ernie had me put some software that he had laying around on Ebay on Tuesday night. We had both of the sold by yesterday morning...Guess the person who bought it's gonna resell it...Didn't even flinch at the prices...which were pretty reasonable anyways.
Ebay's gotten ridiculous with their fees! It cost me almost $7 for one and $5 for the other...YIKES!!! And then paypal needs to be at an upgraded level to be able to take over a certain amount of money. What a hell of a racket! Why didn't I think of it??!!
Today I got to do the Slithery Buddies again. I don't know whether the last remaining Anoles got sold or became extinct. So the PacMan Frog is in their habitat. One of the RoseyHaired Tarantulas moulted so I snagged the exoskeleton...pretty cool...It's a whole outside of the spider...Well, I think it's cool. Alene must've bought the Leopard Gecko that she had her eye on because there's only 3 in there now. We still have all the Grass Lizards, the Coneheads, the SandSwimmers and the Rainbow Ameivas.
I almost was late too...Mike missed the bus by like 30 seconds. , so I had to drive him to school. Then someone lost a load of screens on Middle Street. After I made it all the way to Route 3, someone squashed a Great Dane sized Coyote. But I made it to work with 2 minutes to spare. Go Figure!
I managed to clean the large cricket barrel. Not my favourite job. I get to do the small crickets tomorrow...There was a ton of deadles in the large barrel. That's what you get when you ship animals when it's as cold as my pancreas out.
I FINALLY was able to go to L1's and do Piggy nails. I missed Spike! And Jabba or Java, she'll have to correct me later, is a nice friendly piggy too. Her kitty's nice, Muffin. Humungous Kitty. She's got an evil Tokay and a cute Leopard Gecko and 2 Parakeets. She wouldn't be so afraid of them if she was ever bit by Slifer...Having a 2 foot tall chicken bite you sort of makes you immune to being bitten by other things...except scorpions(((shiver)))
It was nice to visit with her and her kids for a while...Nice apartment too. Loved the stencilling on the cabinets and the tin ceilings. My SIL has tin ceilings too. It's a Colonial/Victorian thing.
Next she'll have to come here and be frightened by chickens LOL
Tomorrow, I work with J2 again...ooohhh...Sometimes it's weeks before I see anyone...
Oh Well, it's time for AI...seeya's.

Today!
I had to move the Box Turtles. I printed out information about the newbies and I forgot it...dumbass...
I put the Box Turtles where the Albino Leopard Geckos were. I think they'll sell well up there...They seem happy. Just hope it's warm enough. I was intending to switch the bedding for the Rock Lizards today, but someone got there ahead of me...They're also known as Sand Swimmers. Sounds like something from StarWars, like the desert wastes of Tatooine, doesn't it...If the Sarlacc Pit doesn't get you, the Sand Swimmers will...LOL
The Coneheads are loons...I remember the sketch on SNL with Dan Ackroyd and Jane Curtin..."We're from France" I remember her name was Connie, but I can't remember what his name was...help me out if you can...
M told me that J1 told her that someone showed up with 2 chickens dressed up!!! So it's good to know that I'm not the only one!! But she doesn't remember who the person was, let alone what the heck the chickens looked like, but I'll ask on BYC later. Maybe it was Gemini or LAHoppers. Of course, noone took pictures!!! Dang!!!
I got to clean the cricket barrels again. I only got to do the smalls, but there was a large in there who jumped out of the scoop and into my shirt. From my shirt, it went into my bra...ewewewew....I did finally dig the bugger out of there, but ewewewewew...

Monday, March 05, 2007
End of last week...
We got more Slithery Buddies!!!!
We got Rainbow Ameivas, Rainbow Rock Lizards, North American Box Turtles, and Conehead Lizards...I had no info on any of them except for the box turtles...oy...
It was raining like a SOB all day. Yeck!!
I wound up going to the bank and the bank was CLOSED! I guess because they're going to where the Bickford's was I guess... So I went to the Rockland Federal Credit Union, but they couldn't give me anymore either...Everyone in the mall had hit them up for change...
So I went back to the store and since I was soaked anyways, I caught carriages. I got in from that and headed to grooming for a towel or so...Got dried off sort of and M bagged me. Can you move the WeeWee pads off the end cap because it's supposed to only be Petgold. I guess while I was trying to melt myself, that a customer bitched her out about them being in the wrong spot. So I'm moving them and the lady starts giving me shit too. She wanted to know if I moved the tags and changed the prices and I'm like no...I just moved them to the right spots...I guess she's gonna call the Attorney General and take pictures and blah blah blah...
Peter Griffin was the MOD and he took me aside when I punched in...I was thinking NOW WTF did I do? Nope he was just telling me about the soap opera that our store has turned into. Peter Griffin's having his eyeballs lazered on Saturday. Durwood's dad is deathly ill. Dan's really sick and Christina's on vacation...and L2 was assaulted on her way home from work...so she's out indefinitely...
Saturday, I went out with my sister and my Aunt who had the stroke in Sept. She's doing ok physically, but mentally . She's basically alone all day except for the kittens and the TV. She was supposed to have someone with her 24/7 for the first year. Didn't happen...So she's lonely and depressed. But she enjoyed getting out with us...Surprised they didn't toss us out of Friendly's because we were so loud.
Sunday, DH had to drive his dad to the bus depot so that he and my SIL could go see his aunt that's got bone cancer and a broken hip...He had to get up at the buttcrack of dawn to get DFIL in town by 8. DSIL was coming by bus from NH. Then DH had to get back to the bus station by 9:30 at night to get his dad.
I think it was really unfair that DH had to do this on the only day that he could sleep in. He could've taken a cab...but he's too cheap, but DH says that his dad's getting pretty feeble so that he felt like he had to...
Getting old really sucks...

Work...
Worked yesterday. Got to do my slithery buddies. We got in some new Ball Pythons which thought I looked like food and some Leopard Geckos. And I also found out that there was a store meeting on Sunday...Nice of anyone to tell me! There were posters all over the stock room, lunchroom and Iso and Adoption, but I KNOW that they weren't there on Wed when I left last week. Which means someone's playing games, and I'm so fucking pissed. The last time I almost missed a meeting, I got called and ran right down there. So what the hell was the problem this time. I was the only one who missed it...hmmm...and the only one who didn't know??? Fucking games...
I sold Milly the Vietnamese Millipede to a customer who thought he/she was pretty. Works for me! I was cleaning cricket barrels when time ran out and I got to go home...I actually saw J1 on Tues... She was having the head of the Aquatics do a walk through...Of course, Durwood had to BS his way through stuff, like, "The managers are always working in the department." I almost fell of the chair...Thankfully the Iggys decided to tailwhip some bedding into my eye so I could escape safely. I don't know why they keep someone who has no clue...
Oh well, onto today...I got to do birdies today. Damned Bronze wing escaped again...It's getting really close to being on my, "I hate that friggin' bird list." The 3rd member of IL DIVO, the canaries died last night...I'm so sad, because I saw him yesterday and he looked okay... When I went by the reptiles, I noticed that Bob was minus a leg...I don't know what happened to it. It's not the broken one, it was a front one...crud...my poor spidey baby...
I t was just my day to be at 3 places at once. I had someone to help with dog crates, in the fish dept, and doing stock. Not to mention that I had to get 3 parakeets...argh!!! Budgie Butts!!! All 3 were blue too! We got more in on Thurs or Fri along with more parent raised Cockateils.
I even wound up selling 2 Baby Leopard Geckos and talking to a lady with a beautiful merle Great Dane about turtles. She and her family had stayed at a hotel that had a waterfall/river thing that had turtles in it. How cool that must've been!!!
I had some information about the Pixie frog I was going to bring in for Alene and I forgot it. And I forgot my silverware to eat lunch..It's been a Monday all friggin' week... and best of all, I got written up for missing the meeting that I didn't even know about...Just shoot me!!!
Durwood goes by me and says before you leave I need to give you your warning, whatever thingie...Wished I'd had the lionfish in my hands instead of a Swordtail...
I really don't think that it's fair that I got written up for something that I didn't have the faintest clue about. If it was so all fired important, why didn't any of the managers call me at home and leave a message??? Sounds like Durwood is just looking for an excuse...But if I don't get any satisfaction from talking to another manager, I'll go up the foodchain...What's he gonna do, fire me??? I think it's called HARRASSMENT and I'm rather sick of it...
So I'm up to 9 points and at all he say he'll separate me...Funny thing was, I knocked on the door and Denise was in with him and she looked at me and I said, I have to be written up and she looked really surprised.
Nice ending to my day, for sure...NOT!!!!
Well I'll see what fun and enjoyment tomorrow brings...

Ok so I'm a daily blog slacker...
Been having puter probs...danged things!
I worked Mon and Wed this week. Ernie and Mike are on vakay! What's wrong with this picture??!
Wed we got in SLITHERY BUDDIES!!! Hooray!!!I cleaned birdies first. We've sold Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, the red-rumped Parakeet. Janice took the last Society and the frizzled, crossbeak Zeeb. We even sold Manny!!! He's a great bird, but nothing like my buddy Chong...can't believe how much I miss that bird...It goes to show you how bonding the bird with the people helps sell the darned things. We don't have time to do that anymore. And we're down to one Quaker, I can honestly say that I don't care for that breed...I just don't like them...and we sold the last parent raised Cockateil.
We haven't been getting any orders of fish or birds or reptiles because it's been so darned cold. Some folks who have bought chicks have gotten dead chicks for that same reason. But you can delay your shipment with the hatcheries, so I don't know why the Hell you'd want little fluffy buttsicles...
Monday. I did reptiles and was in fish. It must be the time of the season for green cloudy water. My tank with Long John and Julian is AWFUL!! looks like a friggin swamp. But the community is clear as a bell...is there a raspberry smilie??
To top Monday off, I had female problems...blech...if I was in labour, I'd have shot the baby across the store...forgot how much fun "that time of the month" was...spent Tuesday in bed with a heating pad.
Back to Wed. We got 2 Rose Haired Tarantulas, a Dozen Green Iggy's that Alene was like what are those, cuz the bag was moving all over the place. LOL We got 4 Russian Tortoises, one of which didn't look good at all but I'll keep my eye on him/her. We also got another dozen Red Eared Sliders, 2 more Blue Tongued Skinks, a Pacman Frog, a Pixie Frog, which looks like a Leopard frog on Steroids, 25 Firebellied Toads, and some Clown frogs which are really teeny and cute and 6 Long tailed Grass Lizards...there's truth in advertising there. Their bodies are maybe 3 inches long with a foot long tail! We had to move the Skinks, and our yellowfooted tortoise to make room for the new arrivals, but we still have room for Leopard Geckoes and some snakes. J2 told me that my snake buddy the Lukey rat snake will get mean! OH NO!!! I hope not. He's so sweet right now.
Thursday we went to Burlington Mall. Simon's ruined another one...sigh...We went there so that Mike could look around at the Lego store and see what else was there. Last time Mike and I went to the Lego store there were tons of little things that were only a few bucks, but all they had there were the big expensive sets.
We checked out Rainforest Cafe and there were only a few good things on clearance. The wait for food was AN HOUR AND TWENTY MINTUES!!!!!Why the Hell would you wait with your kids for that long for an overpriced meal???
We wound up eating at ChikFilA. I love that place. Good food and it's rather inexpensive. We need one down this way. Even DH was impressed at how good the sandwich was.
On the way back we found a Staples so that DH could get a CDwriter/reader thingie and a memory chip. It was the 3rd Staples we had gone to! But at least he got it.
Speaking of Staples, they had the nerve to call him and want him to work! He's on friggin VACATION!!!
We're going to see Ghost Rider today. I hope it's good. It LOOKS good and the reviews weren't half bad. I'll let you know...

It's been 10 days since I last posted...
You'd almost think I was doing exciting things...no such luck...
Penny's definitely broody, which means she fluffs up and growls at you and looks like she's twice her size. I keep taking her off the nest and moving her around. Obelisk is helping by chasing the crap out of her...
I've only worked Mon and Wed this week...I did reptiles on Monday and birdies and fishies today...We've had the worst luck on Goldfish...danged things are floating like Pam Anderson in a hottub...We've even lost some of the hardiest Tetras...too weird. I guess the whole set of tanks needs to be stripped and redone...I was in fish on Monday too. Not that I mind. I like the fish dept. sort of peaceful with the seagull and ocean background sounds...of course it makes you have to pee all the time though.
When I went in to check my schedule, it still wasn't fixed, but Christina fixed it for me, so that was good.
Yesterday, Tues, I took my Aunt out to the Mall so that she could get some Valentine's Day cards. We weren't out for too long because she was getting tired. This has been like the first time that she's been out that hasn't been to a doctor...We went in and stopped in Pasticcini...It was new there so of course we had to look! Yummy stuff too...We got our cards then went back to the pastry store. We treated each other to a slice of Red Velvet Cake with a glass of milk. Every time I see Red Velvet Cake, I think of the Armadillo cake from Steel Magnolias...
But it was fantastic! Sweet, but not too sweet; moist...it was just good. She got a couple of cupcakes and I got some Lobster Tails, an Almond Bomb, a Blueberry Scone, and a Peppermint Brownie for Mike. That was going to be for our Valentine's dessert.
We were planning to go out tonight, but Mother Nature had other plans. We had snow, sleet, rain and wind...blech...Driving was shitty. It took Ernie over an hour and a half to get to work and I couldn't go any faster than 35. There were rollovers and a snowplow took out a car on 128. People drive too damned fast for the road conditions, especially if they have 4wheel Drive. which isn't the beat all end all of things. Too many of them end up off the road. So we had our dessert and leftovers for supper. We have water in the cellar and I shoveled the crud out of the end of the driveway. It's mostly water. with a tiny bit of snow on top. It's gonna freeze solid by tomorrow...At least I can stay in and go through the stuff that got wet in the cellar because Mike didn't pick it up when we asked him to. Once again...
M asked my opinion on the Spice finches last week. Their legs look awful and their nails need to be done. So we caged them up and put them out back. Saturday they were back on the floor. I'm pretty sure it's mites. Caged finches get mites, but since we don't know anything...they're not going to get taken care of. Even if you took the worst looking one and smeared his legs with vaseline, that would help!
And she put a couple of Society finches out back because they have no feathers on their necks. At least they're still out there. And we had another pregnant Male RAT!
Dan got told by a customer that he had no compassion because he wouldn't give her a free cage because her Guinea Pig that she bought there had babies. She bought her in December and she had 4 babies and 3 died. She was telling Dan that he'd understand if he had kids...now I don't have any idea why that had anything to do with anything...
When I did the Society finches today, I found another one dead where I had found Rumpless-stiltskin. I bagged her up and put in a little millet with him. It was weird though, all the finches were chirping and when I took him out, they all stopped and looked at the body...It was like they were paying their respects.
It's been a lovely peaceful week at work too. NO DURWOOD!!! He's in LA taping the Leno show with his kid and his kid's friend. They got the Garter Snake named as the Official Snake of Massachusetts.
That's about it for now...back to vaccuuming the cellar...ack!

This past week...
Worked on Thursday and Friday...
Thursday.
I did reptiles. The Red Iggy looked like crap, but I misted him down and let him sit. The Yellowfooted Tortoise needs a nice dip, but I added water to her bowl and plunked him/her in. S/he seemed happy about that. Bob wasn't in a good mood. I talked to him, but he wasn't interested in being a nice spider. We lost 2 Green Treefrogs, but gained two lovely pieces of Treefrog Jerky. That made me really sad. Everyone else looked okay. Cornie's got mites again...sigh...Bitchy was bitchy and the one ball python that's always crabby left me alone, but I was getting bitten by one inside the log... I was stuck on register...not too bad anyways. Everyone was coming in for their checks and schedules. So when I went and got my schedule, I almost went through the roof. Durwood has me scheduled from 7:30AM until 11PM at night for Wed and Thurs. WTF?!! Not only is it against MA labour laws, but it's just ridiculous to expect anyone to work that long! I told him that I wouldn't work it, because it's obviously wrong and he said that he'd change it.
Friday. I did birdies! Wasn't that great though. I dropped a crock and a cuttlebone, so I had to sweep up all the crumbs before I did anything else...damn! I started on the side with the Society, Zebra and Spice finches...There's only the one crossbeaked, frizzled Zeeb left...I talked to him a bit, then onto the Spices, and then up to the Societys. I look around and I don't see Rumpless-stiltskin, the only female (sorry had to give some shit to an Indy fan) I don't see her. I see Naked Neck, but then I look down and there she is...I start crying...Her little body's still warm. She's been there since before I started. I'm soo sad about this. So I take her out and cuddle and say how sorry I am... I put her in a bodybag with some seed and a piece off a millet spray...
Then I start cleaning again. We must've sold one of the Quakers, thank God, because there's only 2! Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, the Red-Rumped Parakeet just looked at me and chirped. I've sort of forgiven her getting out, but she should have her wings clipped. All the other parrots are fine. Then I get to Manny, the Gold Capped Conure. I start cleaning and he's bouncing all over the place. The next thing I know, it's like OJ's visiting...I grab him and find that he's broken a blood feather. Not just one, but 3!!! I'm covered the cage is covered...Damn! So I try stopping it, then go into Grooming because I know they have styptic stuff to stop the bleeding if they cut doggie nails too short. So we use that on him and we get him all take care of. I toss him back in the cage. I tell Peter Griffin and Dan what happened. If the blood feather doesn't stop bleeding you have to pull it out...YIKES!!! I've only had to do that once and that was one of Slifer's foot feathers...and I didn't want to do it then... But we got Manny all taken care of and put back. Finish them, then it's on to the Bronze Winged finches. The one that's been loose has gotten himself into a cage and he's safe and sound. Buuutttt...there's another one sitting on the bottom of the cage all ruffled. This one doesn't look great at all...So I pick it up, then look at it's butt and it's wings and it's feet. Everything seems fine. So I put it back and was gonna try and keep an eye on it. Then I start getting the it's almost 10 and you're not done, deal...Let's see, I could've let Manny bleed to death in his cage and make sure that I was done but 9:30 or I could take care of Manny and get done later...sorry, but taking care of animals is priority to me.
I get stuck on register...I had a customer asking about her Aquaclear because it wasn't working, so I plugged it in and primed it and got it going. The little wingie/fan thing in the motor was clogged with skungus...I told her that she needs to clean it out. She wanted to know if she owed me anything and I told her Hell NO! It's called customer service for a reason...and sent her on her way. When I was leaving, I stopped in the office again and my schedule STILL wasn't changed...Then I went by the finches to see how the other one was doing and that one was cage pizza too. So I get the keys and a body bag and a piece of millet and put that one out back too...That wasn't how a day should end...
Saturday
We went and saw Night at the Museum. We thought it was really cute. Especially the T-Rex who likes to play fetch! We went to the Hanover Mall to see it, and stopped by on the way home to see if my schedule has been changed...What do you think?? Of fucking course not!!! I think Christina had actually changed it...Hooray! L1's got a bajillion hours and so doesn't M...I dunno...
Penny's trying to go broody and I won't let her...I took the egg and tossed her and Obelisk outside. I know. I'm a mean chicken mom. But if she goes broody, it means that we won't get any more eggs for 3 whole weeks while she incubates the ones she's already laid. Ain't gonna happen!
Superbowl Sunday...
We went to my inlaws and had lunch and gave her her birthday presentand a half dozen Penny eggs. My MIL will be 88 on Friday...They both seemed so young at our wedding, but that was almost 20 years ago...
Penny laid her egg and puffed up to fill the cat crate...she even screamed at me when I went to get the egg...I took her and it out and closed the crate up...I gave the pair of them a parakeet treasure box. It's a small cardboard box filled with seeds. They seem to like them.
I came home and made a baked ham...Now we're watching the Superbowl..not that we care who wins, cuz the Pats aren't in it...Seems like the Bears and the Colts have changed uniforms because the Bears are ahead 14-6. Indy missed the extra point because the ball slipped out of the holder's hands.

Weekend
Not much went on...More eggs from Penny. LOL
We went to my Inlaws for Sunday dinner. We had chicken. Leave it to Greeks to make mashes potatoes with an egg beater. There's a new invention; it's called a potato masher...hmmm...
I only worked a half a day today. 7:30 til 11...Joy!!! I did Slithery buddies, and bagged up a few crickets, but my greatest most wonderful thing of the day to do was...cleaning the cricket barrels...It was awful. You have to get all the deadles' out of the bottom of the barrel while keeping all the live ones inside. It was really bad with the large ones...Not too many small ones. I could only bag up about 100. They only sent us 2000 small and 3000 large. We need more smalls desperately...
We sold 2 of the red rumped parakeets over the weekend. We just go them in a few days ago along with bronzewinged finches. I love finches.
I'm doing a fossil show in Tewksbury on Wednesday. I can't wait. I have all my fossils set and my display board...I have some pictures from the Museum of Natural History. I'll print those out and bring them also.
I'm gonna slap the first contestant on Deal or No Deal...she's like a hamster on speed...Jeeze...
I watched the Pats lose to the Colts last night. In the first half we had it all sewn up, then we let them back in with stupid errors... I was disappointed with the Saints' game. It could've been better. The Bears QB is an absolute IDIOT, no offense...but he is!
Penny laid her egg in my hand this morning. It was warm and it has this coating on it called a Bloom which protects it. That's why you don't was fresh eggs until you're ready to use them. When I said, I got a fresh one, DH thought that Penny plooped in my hand!

Thursday!
Got another egg!!! Good girl Penny! She's 4 for 5. Can't wait for Obelisk to start up.
Did Slithery Buddies today. Don't know what's up with that Tarantula...I checked on the daily sheet and I was doing reptiles and not on the register. Genius Durwood had L2 being on and she was off today. Didn't he even look at the schedule that he made up and posted? Dipstick!
So I wound up on register all day... I did wait on a local celebrity though. Her name is Sara Edwards and she was the entertainment editor for channels 4 and 7 a few years back. She was very nice and I think she was impressed that I remembered her...She's now at Comcast doing the entertainment reports there. I don't know who our cable company is...Hate to admit that, but I don't.
DH had to work tonight at Staples. The guy last week wanted to know if he wanted to work some nights permanently...DH was like HELL NO!!!
I have tomorrow off and I think I will pull the covers over my head and hide..
Stupid schedule for next week isn't up yet... So now I have to call down and see if I'm working on Monday...what a pain in the buttocks.
We got some new bunnies in today too. We got a Dwarf Lop, who's really cute. He's like a calico. And another regular with a ring around his eye so he sort of looks like Petey the dog from Little Rascals...oh boy did I just date myself??? I love the Lionheads though. Can't believe how allergic I am to them, though. Almost as bad as cats.
Thank the Gods, I'm not allergic to birds. I could always get a lizard, can't be allergic to them..but I probably could LOL
A really interesting CSI was on and now there's a new episode with Liev Schreiber (Naomi Watt's current SO)...and it's been interesting too so far. I love CSI, especially Las Vegas (the original) and New York. I can't stand David Caruso so I hardly ever watch Miami.
I just looked outside and we've got some white flakey crap falling from the sky... Probably not going to get too much. According to the weather idiots, up north will get more than an inch and we'll get a dusting. The way things are going, we won't be able to open the front door tomorrow.
We'll see...

Today...
Worked today...got to do Small animals...Don't remember the last time I did them! I helped L1 do them and then went to Fish...the Penguin Tetras were dropping like flies. You looked at them and they bellied up. The Albino Corys and the Jurupari Cichlids were dead all over too...One of the Tetra tanks had a oily skin on it too. The only one...hmmmm...
The people who bought the BlueTongued Skink came in. The thing is pushing up daisies as of yesterday morning. I can't believe how sad I am about that..Not as sad as if it were Grovyle, but still sad...
I got a frozen egg from Penny. She must've laid it last night...It's finally thawed, I think...Looks like I'll have a mini omelet sandwich.
Seems like Durwood has been giving ALL of us shit! He's asked me, L1 and L2 what's been going on in our lives and why are we so miserable and we need to snap out of it...Let's get this straight! It's none of his FUCKING BUSINESS!!! We come in on time and do our jobs. Wish I could say that about him, but he sits in the office and does nothing. We even lost a sale because he wouldn't help a customer out to the car with a dog crate. L1 paged him and paged him and paged him and he never came up. And we lost another sale on an expensive Dogloo because it was all beat up and the customer asked about a discount on it and he said NO...so now that's gonna stay in stock and eat up our inventory instead of going to a new home! We've ALWAYS given scratch and dent discounts... It's only 10% so it's not gonna kill him. I sold a 2 level small animal house on Monday. Peter Griffin sold a ferret, stuffed into a wayyyy tooo small box and Elijah Blue the Ringneck Parrot got sold...Noone's getting hours either. I wonder if he's trying to get rid of people. Right now I know of at least one person who's looking...No it's not me...but I could walk into Petsmart and get a job like nothing...It would be closer to home...
I have a full shift tomorrow so I need my sleep. I feel like crap. My eye's still leaking sand pebble thingees, so I'm pretty sure it's not conjunctivitis. My throat is scratchy and I'm wheezing... At least I have Friday off and I can sit in the house and vegetate. It's supposed to snow/rain/precipitate in the morning.

Boring few days...
Nothing much to report...
Except that the Pats are going to the next round! I have a friend that lives in Indy and she doesn't think that Peyton's boys are going to beat Brady and Co. Wish I could be so confident...
I'm sick of LT pissing and moaning about what bad sports that the Pats were, but it was alright for his team to be dancing on the sidelines when they were 11 points ahead with 5 minutes left.
The games over the weekend were really good. But didja notice that most of the scores were 24, 27? Shoulda played those numbers, dammit!
The best news of the weekend though was that I got my first egg from Miss MoneyPenny. It's teeny and a light tannish brown.

And then we got another one on Monday...none today though..Oh well, that's not the reason that we have chickens anyways, even though that's a benefit. Last year, Obelisk started laying the first week of February so maybe she'll start again that time this year. Something to look forward to.
Monday, I worked a full day and had Peter Griffin and Durwood...wasn't too bad though. I did reptiles and I think that that Goliath Bird Eating Tarantula likes me...He (Nate says that he's a he, the spider that is) throws his hairs at everyone else...But he just watches me...I wonder if he's thinking when he gets big enough he can eat me...Hope not...I think Bitchy would get really upset with that. LOL
Today, I was only there until 11...fine and dandy. I was able to each lunch and go to the library. Fish order was today too. We had some sort of Tang that didn't survive. Poor dumpling...And we had another Green Tree Frog get stuck under the water bowl. Second in two days. And all of a sudden the house geckoes are getting huge...What's up with that? I thought cute LITTLE geckoes...guess they're gonna be bigger than I thought...I was talking to a guy today that worked in a reptile ranch in FL. He'd be great to have, but who knows what Durwood would do...
I had someone call about my website, wondering if I was still in business. DH told him that I'd be home around 3 and to call back...never called...crap!
L1's almost all moved out. She's happy...and I'm glad. Her SO wasn't really deserving of her and she needs to think of her kids...need to call her...
Need to call my Aunt too and see how she's doing...It's been at least a week and she hasn't called here either...Goddess knows, she could've fallen and the new kittens could've eaten her...
That's about it from here. Let's see what tomorrow brings...

Boring week...
I worked on Monday for 7:30 til 12. Was supposed to be 12:30 but it was dead as a morgue. I mean you could've bowled with handgrenades and not hit anyone...
Wednesday, I did some errands. Had some returns to do...blech..hate doing returns. Found out that there's a Target closer than SouthBay or Independence Mall.! Hooray!! Not that I'm keen on them either, but they had flannel sheets with Flamingos on them...I love Flamingos. Thr first time I went to Disney, I took bajillions of pictures of them. The last time I went, I was stalked by Ibises...They're wading birds, like Flamingoes. Only they come in other colours, not pink. This stalker was a white Ibis, symbol of the Egyptian Keeper of the Akashic Records. I saw this bird EVERYWHERE and when we were leaving on the shuttle bus to come home, it followed the bus! Strange, but sort of cool too!
Well, to get back to the story...Target didn't have the Flamingo sheets. But they did have plenty of sock monkey ones...Hell NO! Would freeze to death first! So I go snowpeople ones instead.
Thursday, Mike was sick so he stayed home. He even slept so I know he wasn't feeling well. I slept too. Ernie woke us up when he called at Noon. Oops! Then we had soup and Mike worked on his Hamurabi extra credit project.
Last night, Ernie saw that paper looked gnawed on and it wasn't the girls. Crud, a mouse or more. Hopefully not a rat, but with all the construction, Goddess Knows.I went to Wallyworld and got a ton of traps, just incase. I have 5 under the sink, one by the front door, one in the coat closet, and 3 in the cellar where I had seen chewed papers. I felt like I was a stand in for Caddyshack or Rat Race.
Watched some of the president's speech. I'm sure he wants to institute the draft again. Won't work...And then some idjit sent out letters asking soldiers to re-enlist.Too bad the soldiers were all ready dead from serving our country...Dipshit!
Tomorrow, it's back to work...full day, maybe!!If it's nice, it probably won't be all that busy. People will be out and about rather than shopping, I'd think...

Tuesday
Off for the rest of the week...Woohoo! No Durwood!!
I got help doing the Reptiles today. It's a new guy named Dave. He used to own the Candy Reef in the landing, but he sold it when the train was supposed to come through. Good idea!
We cleaned all the water bowls and Durwood complained about algae in them, AGAIN! How many friggin' times do I have to scrub nonexistent algae out of bowls? He's seeing green algae in green bowls and brown algae in brown bowls...He almost got a bowl in the head today! And let's see overfeeding, not cleaning the houses and plants, poop on the walls...how full of shit can this guy be?!!! Anyone who knows me knows I don't skimp on the animal care. I even bathe my friggin' chickens before they go to a store or a Chickenstock. Of course, the ones he found fault with were the ones that the new guy did...He even had the nerve to ask him how many dishes had algae and the FNG said 6. How can they get mouldy/algae infested since I did them yesterday, again...adnauseum...
Bitchy the Milksnake thought I was a food item and attacked the paper towel I was using. She had a fun time wrestling it... Took me a while to get it away from her.
I'm just disgusted with the fact that he doesn't think that I'm doing my job right and I know that I am...sounds to me like he's looking for an excuse to get rid of me...maybe I'm paranoid, but I'm always there, I do my job and I go home.
Then I bitch and complain here.
I know for a fact that they're looking for help at Petsmart and I have experience.
J2 found Muy Loco in the birdseed aisle. She said that he looked emaciated. No kidding. He hadn't eaten anything in a while.
She also told me that on Saturday when the store was supposed to close at 7 that his royal dipstickness closed at 6:30...I think that's illegal. Even if it's not just downright mean. She said that he's been such a dink too! No kidding! Maybe I'll slip some Zoloft in his pilfered soda...

New Year's Day!
I worked a half day today! Not bad...11 o'clock came and I ran for the hills. J2 found the red iggy yesterday or Saturday. I'd given up hope for him/her. I thought maybe we had gotten one in, but realized it was missing a piece of it's tail...I've got superglue, I can fix it, make better than it was!!!
We were getting poured on. Better than snow I guess. We'd be so up a creek if that was snow...Yikes! Make Denver look tropical. It's supposed to stop later on tonight...
Watched some of the Bowl games. Most of them were so tight with the scoring. 3 points here, 2 there...No real blowouts that I saw. Missed the Rose Bowl Parade though, so I was sort of pissed. The Grand Marshall was George Lucas and there were going to be some Star Wars themed floats with Storm Troopers walking with them...dang...
I let the birdies out this morning when I came home, noone else did...poor things. Penny was starving. She went right to the food and didn't stop til it was all gone. Obelisk knocked hers over, AGAIN! I used to think it was Slifer all the time, but it's that spazzy danged chicken...
I got to do reptiles again. The glass was spotless and I was done before 10. Had to get some crickets and a mother and her 2 sons bought a green treefrog. I like those even if they do have a tendency to think that they're FaceHugger extras from Alien.
I got home and turned on the lights to the fishtanks and lo and behold, I've got floaters...SOB!!! My three Lemon Tetras and Xevox the Chinese Algae Eater. Deadles! Noone turned on the lights for them either today...all of my animals weren't loved today. So they got the burial at sea. I'm so bummed. I just changed the water on Friday and was doing the filters today when I got home. The only new thing was a heater and it wasn't set on crab boil; it stayed steady at 76. The only one that looked like he had one fin on a banana peel and the other in the grave was the redtailed shark. Right now he's doing the headstand ontop of Pharoah, the Pleco. Everyone else seems fine. Don't know what happened. And Long John Silver the Koi and Julian the Bichir are fine too. Same water, same heater, same decorations...I wonder what went wrong. I rinse all my stuff before I put it back in the tanks and they dried in the bathtub like always...just another puzzlement to my fishy keeping hobby. I'll test the water too. Just in case they did something stupid with the lines that I didn't read about in the paper.
Mike spent his last day of freedom over at his friends' house. He got to play Xbox and DS games and whatever else they have over there. They're good kids. The girl's on her way to a Goth path, but since I was an original Goth, doesn't matter much to me. The boy's quiet, but nice and they like Mike alot, so it's a friendship that we encourage. Considering his "friend" Colin hasn't been around to see him and the last time they were together, Colin tried swiping stuff out of Mike's backpack. That is unacceptable to me. You keep your hands off of other people's stuff unless you've been given permission to touch it or look at it...at least that's how I was raised.
His other friend Kevin was down in TN visiting his dad for Xmas. His mom, they're divorced, moved up here to be with a guy she met on the internet. I like her alot. She's had some hard times, but she's a typical Southern girl. Doesn't take shit from anyone and will be nice as heck about telling you off.
DH goes back to work tomorrow.
Mike goes back to school tomorrow.
I'm working.
My poor house is gonna be lonely.
If it makes a difference to anyone, my car finally has a name. It's TLALOC, pronounced Tlah-Loak. It's the name of the Aztec Rain God. Here's a good picture of him on a ceramic jar.
http://www.windows.ucar.edu/tour/link=/mythology/tlaloc_rain.html&edu=elem
His name means: He Who Makes Things Sprout.
In a country where there's not alot of rain, it makes sense for a God of Rain, don't you think? Works for me...
It took me a lot of time to figure out a good name for the car...I'm the namer around here. I've named all the cars and the house...And he was built in Mexico, which is why I wanted an Aztec or Maya or Nahuatl name for him.
Hope you all's New Year is off to a good start...

Wednesday
Durwood Free Zone!!!
Woohoo!!!
I got to help J2 in fish. She actually wanted me! The other choice was Aline...But at least I know what the heck I'm doing.
I got to do birdies today. There's no millet sprays, no cuttles bones...nothing to scavenge from the shelves either...hopefully we get a truck this week. We're sort of bare.
I had the birdies done by, get this, 9:15! Go Me!!!
It was a good day actually. I sold a Hermit crab, tons of fish, and a Leopard Gecko to a set of stoners...I had another customer interested in the Rose Haired Tarantula, but he didn't know when he was gonna be deployed. Bummer. Not just for the sale, but being deployed too.The girlfriend wasn't exactly keen on the spider, but I actually let her walk on me too and it was weird and sort of creepy, but not "Where's the Raid and the FlySwatter?" bad.
I have the next couple of days off. I need them. Been getting up at the Buttcrack of dawn and running around like Mike the Headless Chicken...not good for you...
Hopefully noone wakes me up before sunup...I've been keeping quiet so I don't wake up Obelisk the Tormentor, and Miss MoneyPenny, or Ernie and Mike. Even sleeping til 8 would be good.
The sick iguana that was out back crossed the bridge, and the white thin ferret doesn't look so good either...I was really hoping that he'd pull through. I gave him a bath and warmed him up a while ago. He'd been having trouble shedding, especially around his tail. I don't think the ferrets gone to the vet yet either...the last one like this had a tumor and had to be PTS.
Our back room is really empty. We've got a couple of gerbils and some hamsters and the Harry Houdini Day Gecko. We sold the other Red Iggy and even Psycho(!) We got a GP returned yesterday because it bit the dad. I had no problem picking her up. It was a Tricolour Teddy. Durwood went to pick her up and she bit him. Guess she doesn't like guys. And a Hooded Rat because the kid wasn't interested in getting another animal. Sweet rat. Hope he's not sold for food. We're down to about a dozen Bettas from like 80. Jen2 said that it was really busy over the weekend. Sold a ton of reptiles. Still have the Jones', one Tokay, the lined Geckos, one baby Beardie, all 3 of the Medium Beardies, all of the Albino Leopards. We didn't sell any big birds this weekend though. Seems sort of strange.

Feels like it was a Monday....
Durwood was there...Strike One!
I got to do Reptiles again. Then bag crickets. Twinkletoes the pinktoed Tarantula moulted. How cool is that? S/He's grown too. Not such a little thing anymore.
So I'm bagging crickets away. Awfully hard to do when there's hardly any of the little ones left. So a customer asks a dog crate question. I go over and answer their question. Then I'm called to the register. So I'm there for like a half an hour. Then back to bagging crickets. NOPE! "You're taking too long, forget it!" Strike 2!
But at least I got that customer that I was talking to the dog crates about. She was so happy that I'm always nice to her and I tried to get her a specific type of catfood. She's going in for melanoma surgery after the first of the year. I wished her good luck and she gave me a big hug and a kiss... Customers like that make your day.
She's getting the dog crate for her new kitty who's being declawed because it likes to climb everywhere. I don't agree with declawing, but the vet's using a laser so it's not as bad as digging to China to get the whole thing out..blech..And the kitty jumps up on the lady's back, right where she's having her surgery...so I can understand.
I also got my review...Strike3! Durwood sat me down and read it to me...Mostly 3's, one 4 and one 2. The 4 was for being accurate on the register...The 2 was for uniform..not being in it in the mornings...When I first started, everyone would change into their uniform shirts before the store opened and when they were done with their departments. All of a sudden, it's uniform, put your uniform on, etc...I asked Durwood and he said, you have to..I was like "But the store's not even open, who's gonna come in?" "Store policy" I was told...I asked Christina, and got the same line...Fine, it may be store policy, but why? I finally asked Denise and she said that if we weren't in uniform and one of the suits came in that we'd get in trouble. I said, ok, that's all I needed to know...And I'd been in my uniform ever since when I work. But I still got marked down for it.
I also got marked down for taking too long with the animals...Well, there's 2 ways to do them. The right way which includes scrubbing the water dishes, cleaning poop off the grottoes and plants, scooping poop out of the substrate, dead cricket carcasses, checking the cornies for mites, misting the tropical reptiles, and cleaning ALL the glass, front, back and sides. The wrong way is not to do anything except feed the animals. It always takes longer to pry all the Anoles and House Geckoes off the plants and their tree because as soon as you get them all off another one climbs up your arm, same with the Cresties. It's not like I carry them around the store and make googoo eyes at them all. I've always talked to Stubby and he likes me and always wants to climb on me...not my fault; it's just how he is.
I also got written up for the escaped Red Iguana. He still hasn't been found. If I wanted to hold a lizard, an iguana is rather low on the list. S/he was under the log with it's eyes closed. It hadn't looked as vibrant as the other one and I figured it was dead, not planning it's escape! It went up the log up my arm and out...Last time anyone saw it, it was by the Science Diet...
It's a pet store, things are bound to friggin escape...I didn't put it on the floor and say, "Run free leetle leezard!" I'm not one of those PETA fuckheads that make you feel as if having any animal as a pet is an unpardonable sin.
It's also unfair that I come in at 7:30 in the morning after making sure that Mike gets the bus. I'm always on time and sometimes a few minutes early. I go right to work in whatever dept I'm in for the day. If I'm done by 9:30, that means that I'm on time with the rest of the folks...But I'm being penalized by having to be done by 9! You can't physically do it by yourself!
Now this past Friday, I was getting interrupted by customers. What am I gonna say? Sorry can't help you find someone else, I'm busy...Shit NO!!! I'd get written up for that! Durwood even saw me with a customer with a list of things for her new puppy!
It seems that no matter what the hell I said that he wasn't going to listen; I should saved my breath. I told him about the dog crate customer and being on the register. No, that was later, I was told. Now, how the Hell would he know? He's 98% of the time in the office on the phone, instead of on the floor helping his G-D customers!
Laziest, worst boss EVER!!!! Makes Richard Rendine look like Phil and Randy...They were great bosses..I miss them.
"You can listen but still not hear"
Pretty pathetic for a manager...if you ask me...
I'm sort of glad my post last night went into electronic limbo...I would've been fired if it had gone through

Wed, Thurs, Fri
This friggin week has been a blur...
All I've done is work, and bake cookies and have disjointed conversations with my Aunt, who had the stroke...
Stupid Customer Questions of the Week...
"DO YOU HAVE SELF-CLEANING FISH TANKS?"
If I did, they'd certainly be gone...Nope, but let me know when ones invented...
DO YOU HAVE A HEATER FOR MY TURTLE TANK. IT SITS ON THE BOTTOM AND HEATS THE WATER?
We have ones that go in the tank and ones that go under the tank but nothing that sticks to the bottom so your turtle won't bite the cord and electrocute himself...
DO YOU GIFTWRAP?
Yep, you have a choice of paper towel or toilet paper...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And we had a visit yesterday, so Durwood's up everyone's ass. So I'm cleaning the red iguanas and there's one that always is bouncing all over and another one that's just started laying there. So today, Thursday, it's eyes are closed and it's curled up under the log...So I flip the log up and the God Damned thing goes up the log up my arm and out. I grab it's butt and it drops it's tail. Iguana goes one way, wiggling tail goes the other...I haven't seen him since....Crapomatic!
Still no sign of him today...
Then today, when I come in, Dan takes me aside and says I need to have the reptiles done by nine so I can be on register. He says that because they weren't done on time yesterday that they got in trouble with Ray, Durwood's boss...He also said that I can't be petting the animals, just clean them. I was so hurt and angry, I almost walked. Don't give a flying crap that it's 3 days before Xmas...it wasn't right. I hadn't done anything wrong. Durwood seems to forget that I come in a half hour AFTER everyone else, so being done by 9:30 is doing the animals in 2 hours, just like the rest of them. It's not like I was taking the critters for walks around the store, etc, but I was getting interrupted by (gasp) CUSTOMERS!!! During our store meeting where Customer Service scores were in the crapper, he had said that if a customer comes up to you that you basically drop what you're doing and help the customer...so that's what I was doing!!!! Jeevus Crisp and his brothers Coco and Rice!!!WTF!!!?I'm being reprimanded for doing what I was told to do!!...He even saw me going around with a customer who had a 2 page list of things that she needed for her new Labradoodle/Cocker Spaniel Puppy. So it would've been better if I stood ontop of the ladder and pointed with my scoop full of sand or poop or mealworms...Yeahhhh...
This week has just been really crappy anyways. I haven't been sleeping well and it's causing me headaches and eye problems. I'm exceedingly pleasant with the customers and I've gotten more thanks for all your helps this past few weeks than I've gotten for quite a while...
We sold Squirrel, the Moustache Parrot on Wed. M told me today. It's sort of sad, but I'm glad he's gotten a home.
Been selling hammies and piggies up the butt. And we sold one of the bunnies.
At least it's over for me...I don't have to go back til Tues. Then work Tues, Wed, then Thurs and Fri off. Works for me...I need it, desperately.
I gave my sister her cookies and I'll give my aunt hers when I see her tomorrow, unless it's really pouring too bad.
You can have some too...
Oatmeal Scotchies, Cherry Winks, White Chocolate Macadamia Nut, and Peanut Butter...Yummy.
Don't forget milk to wash them all down...
Tuesday
No Durwood in the AM!! happy happy joy joy!!!
It's so much more peaceful without him there...
I got Birdies today. There aren't as many friendly ones as we used to get...Squirrel's still friendly: likes to sit on your shoulder and talk to you. Everyone else runs away.
I was cleaning the Quakers and one went whipping by me and "BONG!" He went right into the dome covering the bowls...didn't even stop him...But one of the others freaked out and broke a blood feather...Massacre again. Then it felt the need to fly all around the cage and whack me across the face with his wing...so now I'm covered too...I finally cornered the little bugger and wrapped him in my sweatshirt. I pressed on the end of the feather til it stopped bleeding. I know you're supposed to pull them, but I didn't have any tools on me, especially since my pocketknife has gone missing. This is the second one!
Last time I saw it, it was on the box o crickets that I was trying to put out. I never got back to finish putting them away. And now it's gone...Too many folks with light fingers...
We almost lost J2 because of dipstick being himself. She doesn't do orders, doesn't get to do any of the things that the specialist is supposed to do...How stupid is that? Any friggin' dumbass can scrub algae.
My car's been very good. He can stop on a dime and give back change. I found this out when some moron(no offense to morons) felt too important to wait for the trashtruck to get out of his way on a blind corner. I was in my lane and he came pretty close to taking off my front end. Butt swab!I did the MA thing and flipped him off.
Then as I was getting on the Xway, I started to merge with the traffic when I look around again and there's another idiot coming across all three lanes of traffic, cutting me off and continuing to weave in and out of the other cars...Do you how close I was to encasing my whole car in down pillows and a grenade launcher???
The Durwood words of wisdom keep on coming:
"A betta lives for 15 years"
"The snakes don't get an imaginary lung fungus from being on wet bedding"
"A flu shot takes a month before you can't get it"
"If you have trouble sleeping take Tylenol PM, it has the same ingredients as Ambien"
The mind friggin' boggles...
On an IQ test between him and Obelisk, Obelisk would win, Wings Down!
I finally mailed my Xmas cards. They have pics and letters and cost me 50+ cents each to mail...they'll get there sometime...(sigh)
Procrastination thy name is ME!!!
Now I need to start the COOKIES!!!
That's the best part of the holidays!
My MIL is out of the hospital after having a check up of a stent that she had had done a mile ago. She was "in pain" no shit sherlock and they gave her morphine...really bad idea...last time she had an operation she got hooked on it. This is a woman who needs novacaine to have her teeth cleaned. Goddess knows how she ever had 2 kids!
On Xmas day, we'll get the full lowdown of how she almost died "and the terrible pain and this will be my last Xmas. I can't stand up to cook and look what I made"...I need to call my SIL and try and talk her into talking MIL into not cooking a damned thing!!! Won't work though...Just another thing to add to the suffering speech... This is gonna be the best way to get through this day...too bad I don't drink.
Monday
My Xmas cards have been written.!!!
Now I gotta mail them...
Did I mention that we got bunnies at work? For $100 a pop. There's 2 Lionheads, and 2 regulars. One of the regulars got sold already.
Work is work...Mondays still suck... I did Slitherys today. Bitchy isn't looking good. She was all sorts of wavy~~~like that...That's not normal for her. And I found 4 deadles in the anole tank: 3 House and 1 Green. How depressing that noone could smell decomp...There were mealies in with the Geckoes so I figured that they were getting them now...Nope. Got told that I wasn's supposed to do that...Well they were there when I got there! And then I'm told that I'm overfeeding crickets to the lizards...and I didn't scrub the algae out of the water bowls. Well, I most certainly did!!! I took every one of them over to the sink and scrubbed them by hand! I can't help if the colours of the bowls are FRIGGIN' GREEN!
Stupidity really gets me going, if you haven't figured that out yet...
Thursday
Week's almost over, thank the Gods...at least I have the car's registration...just need to name him...and get the sticker...
My Goddess, I have 4 views already...YIKES!!! I feel like I'm being stalked...only joking. I know that's not funny at all. I remember the girl from Sister Sam who was killed by a stalker and then there's John Lennon...shiver...All sorts of loonies out there...
Got to do fishies today...I love fishies...try to avoid Saltwater like the plague because I really don't want to do anything that will knock off a $50 fishy. The seahorses are on sale this week...hmmm...that would be a pissah tank. Seahorses and of course a horseshoe crab, and a hermit crab. I have a filet mignon taste on a roadkill budget...but I can still dream...
Poor Psycho's been banished to the backroom. They put out the two Red Iggys in his cubicle. Still haven't heard the story of the Day Gecko. And they seem to think the medium male rat is pregnant again...if she is her name will be Britney Spears...If she has another huge litter...we may not have to order white rats for quite a while...I don't think we can sell them anyways...I think there's some sort of rule against that, but I could be wrong.
I got to go home early...it wasn't busy...bummer. So I tried to get the sticker for the car, but they said that they wouldn't be free until after 2...when I called they said it would take a half hour to do. I had said that I had to be home by 2:30...dipstick
So I'll go tomorrow and get it. This time I'll mention that I bought the danged car there and need to have it done...maybe that'll work. Need to have it done or I'm in trouble with the fuzz if I'm stopped.
I went by the mall and saw Jess. Been a long time since I saw her and I sort of knew that she was gonna be there. I was looking for stuff for DH's stocking...couldn't find anything that I wanted. So I got me a Pumpkin Pie Blizzard at the Orange Julius/ DQ and went home.
Got home and told the birdies that I was home...no birdies greeting me...WTH? I know they were there this morning. Finally I see Obelisk around the other side of the table. That's one out of 2...Where's Penny? Shit!! No blood, no feathers, but still no bird...I check in the kitchen, in the cupboards, on the shelves..no bird. Where the hell is she? So finally I get down on the floor and she's on a chair that's pushed in under the table. I thought that she might've ended up in the fishtanks or worse...But at least she's safe and sound...
So I tossed Obelisk outback and went to sit on the front steps with Penny. She wound up flying into the hedges and I had a hard time getting her out...OY! Note to self: Bantams like to fly and are good at it..
When I got home, I had my penpal's box of goodies on the steps...WooHOO!!! I received a hand crocheted shawl in a wine colour and cocoa, peanut butter cups, cherry cordials and cookies...YUMMY!
She's a really nice person...and I think I could start a friendship with her.
It's time for Final Jeopardy, so I'm gonna run. Don't know what possessed 38 to put Jeopardy on at 9 at night...but the CSI is one that we saw last month. bummer.
Monday...urg....
Monday's always suck, but today had to be right up there with the worst of them...
First, durwood was there. Then he was helping me with reptiles...I tried talking to him about the aspen and not getting it wet, but I'm better off talking to a water dish. He'd better get ready to beaten by a dead snake...
Then I had to do register...I actually had a lady thank me for being pleasant...did I OD on the Zoloft again???LOL
I was helping another customer with a question that Shaundra, hope I spelled that right, couldn't answer...She wanted a cage to put her kitten in when she wasn't there so her older kitty wouldn't torture it...I was working on a piggie/bunny cage so she wanted to know about that and then wanted to know about one of the kennels that was on the cart to be put together. She wanted to see how big it was...So I take out my trusty pocket knife and she asked me another question and I took my 3 brains cells off of what I was doing and I punctured myself...It looked like OJ was there. I was spurting blood everywhere. So the customer is like did you hurt yourself? and I'm like...Yep, quite well too. so I run around looking for papertowels and finally find some...Now I have blood on the kennels, the floor, the counter and my register...so I call for help...noone comes. Durwood is trying to teach M about how to be a Lead. She really deserves it. She's a good worker, knows what the Hell she's talking about and is a good person. So I have my hand embalmed in papertowels and I'm running around the store looking for someone to help this customer. I find them at the Chinnie/GP hex and ask for help before I bleed all over the floor. I run to the bathroom and finally manage tog et it to stop bleeding...Now for antibiotic and a bandaid.
Back to the register I go...I try to ring customers and I can't feel my thumb...awwwshit! Maybe I did something really good..Yeehaw!! I go in the office and tell durwood.He's not pleased, but WTF? I can't feel my thumb and it's doing pins and needles.
Off to SSH and the ER I go. I'm rather low on the totem pole...nothing broken and not going into diabetic shock...so I get shuffled off to Urgent Care which is basically hurry up and wait....lalalala...twiddle the thumbs..too bad I can't feel one!!!
Final prognosis, no major damage, keep it clean and dry, really good if I'm digging in reptile dirt or snagging fishies...Hurts like Hell though...
So now I go home after 4 hours...DH came and got me...good boy!!!
I call in for tomorrow. Listen, if I can't dig in dirt or dabble my fingies with fishies (((shrug))) I have Wed off for a field trip.
I also have to mail my recipes for the HT recipe exchange...too bad they've ended up in computer limbo and are GONE!
Now I have no cardstock either so off I go to Staples. I get this really nice scented paper, but it's just paper and not cardstock either...crud. But I use it anyways. Too bad, I managed to screw that up too. I was typing with one finger and fucked up the alignment.And put it in wrong...grrrr.
So I'm hurrying off to mail the recipes. Now I have no registration because it's a new car. PO closes at 6:30. I see the arrow light changing and go through it. I pull into a space and get my package and open the door...when I hear,"Don't move! Don't get out of the car" WTF!!! What the Hell is wrong now? What did I do? One of Braintree's finest comes up to the side of the car. License and reg. I hand him the whole thing. At least I had my wallet in my pocket and not in my pocketbook because I have my scissors in there loose and Goddess only knows how much jailtime I would get for that on this shitty day...
At least I have a good driving record, at least for the last 15+ years.
So the policeman tells me that it would be a $100 dollar ticket and the insurance would go up...but he only gave me a warning. Thank the Gods!!!
That would be all I need. Send my chickens, I'm not coming home!!!
Friday!
Work was okay...Dan and Denise were on, so that was okay...I did Slithery Buddies again...I don't know whether the snake that was there died or what, but there's a Garter Snake, eh? in where there was a different snake...
I sold the guys that bought the Leopard Geckoes another Leopard gecko...They're really sweet lizards, but not like Evita or Grovyle...Stubby's still here and there's another Cresty without a tail. He's a dark mahogany colour. I don't need to bring anything else home...
I was so glad that I was getting out at 11! too freakin busy today anyways...I was late getting out. No surprise there. I was getting fishies for a guy that absolutely reeked of reefer! I was getting hungry standing next to him...
Ernie was kind enough to take today off so that he could pick me up and drop me off at work..Thank you!!!!
We went to Jannell Ford to look at a Focus that I had looked up on the internet. We were attacked when we walked in...
We knew how much that the car was worth and we sort of figured how much they'd be willing to come down...
The salesman started out with it's only been here 17 days and that's the sale price...Yeah right! It was bought there and serviced there and it only had the one owner...
$9,990 was the asking price. The lowest was $8,450 for a non-certified car, which it isn't...We started at $9,500 and went down to $8,500. The salesman said that he couldn't go that low...We knew he was gonna come back with 9,500. And we were getting ready to take a hike and go onto Quirk where there was another Focus or Ricky Smith for the orange Vibe. Mike said that he would never ride in it...oh well. Walk, I don't care!
After another trip to the boss, he wanted to know what our lowest was. We came back with 8,500 and he said that he still couldn't go that low, so DH said 9,001! We got the car for $9,001...That was actually a fair price on it. And it only took an hour and a half to buy it.
We picked it up at 4 this afternoon. It's dark navy and a hatchback. It's got a rear wiper and a 6 CD changer. DH's newer Taurus doesn't have that and he's sort of jealous. It's got power locks, windows, steering, mirrors, AC, all sorts of bells and whistles and it has an alarm for the radio and another type of security system that you can only use your "programmed" key to get into it.
On a sadder note, I had to clean out MoonShadow. I'm very very bummed. I took out my clothes rack, the fishing rod, my bag of tshirt hangers, all sorts of stuff that I had been carrying in the trunk. And the 25 pound bag of Layer Feed in the back seat. I took out my Hermes that came from Greece when DH went over there in the 70's and I almost forgot the Wicked Witch license plate...I would've started crying but it was so cold and windy that my tears were flying away..DH has already told me that I can't take the chickens in the car and that I need to keep her neat and clean and vacuumed. How can I take the birdies to the drive through if I can't take them in the car? I know I know...Stick them on the hood or the antenna...just not the same...LOL
Obelisk is still not exactly thrilled with company...she went over to Penny's food and water dish and plooped in it...I was sooo pissed! You know she did it on purpose!
Back to the car, I could find registrations all the way back to 97, but not the one from this past year...oops...
We gave the title to MoonShadow to the guy at the car place and he's gonna call some one to haul her away...I won't be able to watch...We might get $50 for her, but it's still so sad...It always seems that things happen all at once. DH's Contour, Comanche croaked in May, so we had to buy a car back then. Now we had to get a new one for me...Damn! Even if she could've lasted a couple more months...
Monday
Monday=Durwood...
Denise was there teaching a doggie training class to wannabe doggie teachers. I was doing Slithery buddies. I found a House Gecko with the tree on his head and a Leopard Gecko with the grotto on his head! Why the fuck can't people check to make sure that there are no animals under the decorations before they plunk them down?
And the aspen bedding for the snakes was soggy and mouldy again...the next snake I find dead, I gonna hit someone with...even Bitchy's was soaked. That just annoys me! The head iguana was being a butt head, so I took him out and carried him around with me...he tried biting, but he didn't succeed because of how I was holding him...don't wanna be bitten by him...The mother mouse is doing fine as well as all 13 babies. The day gecko still wants out, but that ain't gonna happen!
Durwood managed to make M look like an idiot in front of 3 customers. He's such an idiot! He even managed to call a customer a liar to his face. The customer came back and wanted his name and I most certainly gave it to him. He was more pissed that Durwood didn't apologize to him...don't think a sincere apology is in Durwood's vocabulary...
Then I took a call about Teddy Bear Hamsters, and went to look so see if we had any...I knew that we didn't but Durwood being himself, said that we did! So when I picked up the phone again, I told her that we didn't have and she says that the guy she talked to said that we did. So then he comes running out of the office telling me to tell her that he's going to check out back...We all know that there's none out there. We've got momma rat, gerbils galore, and snakes, tarantulas and red iggies and 2 gargoyle geckoes.
I got the joyous job of putting doggie kennels away...I separated them by size. Of course, some of the smalls are larger than some of the mediums...typical! But at least they looked nice for the day.
I really hate ladders too...
To top it off, it was snowing like a sonovabitch this morning and cold as my pancreas! Yuk!!!
But by the time I went home, it was sunny. Had to go back to the school because Mike forgot his homework...
Then we had a math problem that the 3 of us couldn't figure out...at least he got full credit it for trying.
Friday
Holy crap it's December already!!! Anyone know where the Hell the year has gone???
Let's see was me, and Aline/Elena/whatever her name is, Dan and Christina...
For having extra hours and interviews up the arse, where the hell are all the people? I was doing birdies again. A/E/W was doing small animals and I never saw her again....whatupwidat?
Dan told me to make sure I cleaned the windows well, inside and out, so I was doing that and a friend from BYC came in and needed a box to transport her Speckled Sussex roo to whence he came. I got her a box and we were talking(she was buying dog food too, so she was really a customer) and I was getting the hairy eyeball from Christina...so I had to blow Wynn off and get back to work.
I had really wanted to talk to her because I hadn't seen her in forever and wanted to know about her dad's passing and losing 3 birds. Guess that's what email's for.
Back to birdies...Are you done yet?
How close to done are you?
Holy sheepshit! I'm friggin done when I'm done...I can only go so damned fast and make the birdies look good too.
So I finally have that done and she wants me to dust around the Budgiebutts and Burritos and make them look nice...so I start to do that and I'm attacked by customers...now what I was asked to do isn't getting done and I'm getting the hairy eyeball again....too many chiefs and not enough fucking Indians...
I hate days like that. Then Dan is scooping deadles fishies and putting them in the bag...I ask him what one was and he said that he didn't know that he had to write them down...ARGH!!! so I go through the body bag and dump them all out to write them down...what a pain in the ass!
Then I finish with a customer and it's 5 past 2 and Christina comes up and says that I have to watch a video...I'm like it's my time to go, but I'll watch it anyways...I page L2 to come and watch it because she's supposed to too...She comes running in and says that she has to pick up her car and can't watch it, so now I get to watch it with Dan instead...I like Dan, don't get me wrong. He can be really really anal about the fish tanks and the glass, but I still like him anyway...
I finally get to go home at 2:25PM. Yeehaw! couldn't wait to go home either...
Thursday
I was in Birdies today...M left a note for me to wash the budgie butts and Slifer, the red shoulder...That little parakeet is friggin growing on me!!! Dammit!!! He likes to crawl up my ponytail and sit under my collar, and bite my necklace. I found myself looking at cages...
I also had to train Aline/Elena, whatever the heck her name is in fish...I know it was Thursday because I fed the invertebrates...pretty pathetic life I must say...
Tues=fish order
Wed=small animal
Thurs=feed the things without backbones
Fri=frozen foods
Monday is just durwood, nothing to look forward to there. LOL
I had her pulling deads, then Dan had her wiping down the tanks and I had her scraping algae. Then I had to show her how to bag crickets. I was nice and gave her the large ones to do...
Dang! I forgot! J2 found the Day Gecko that's been lost for so long. He's still alive. She didn't tell me the story...I have to find her and ask. That happened on Wed.
After I left work I had to go to the Neurologist...oh boy what fun!
I was hooked up to a machine and my arm was shocked. It started out with the ring finger, then thumb and then up my arm...One of the last ones the doctor moved to the other side of the table and then zapped me. I dope slapped myself. It was like WTF?! I asked him if that's why he moved...
Then the fun really began. Anyone who says acupunture doesn't hurt is full of shit! I have little needle marks from my armpit to my thumb and I am a hurting unit...as I write this on Friday night...
I do have Carpal Tunnel, supposedly a mild case...so until I hear from my primary it'll be the same thing...Don't lean on your elbows, wear my brace, anti-inflammatories...I've been living on Tylenol Arthritis for 3 weeks now...
On the bright side, I made my sister wet her pants laughing when I told her about slapping myself...
Even more fun for the end of the day...The friggin cookie dough orders came in...let's 9 buckets at 3 pounds each...OUCH!!! Didn't help one bit...Considering I couldn't feel anything in my thumb except tingling...
And the bookfair at the school...I spent $35 on books there too...
At least it all goes to the school...
I'll write about today, tomorrow...my arm is killing me...
Wednesday
I know I worked and no durwood except for the fact that he had a fight with the little woman and decided to spend his time in the store...Yippee Kayeah!!! NOT!!! Him and his ill-mannered golden goofoff. Now I know it's not the dog's fault if he is fucking clueless and jumps and slobbers, but it is definitely the owners fault...I rest my case.
My Goddess, my Tuesday's had 3 views already...guess I'm really not that boring...
J2 was training the new "fish girl" and loving every minute...yeah right... I don't remember what the hell I was doing...probably running around like Mike the Headless Chicken again...
I know that I got smalls again. Haven't been in the slithery buddies all week...I miss them!
Monday, monday...
durwood...need I say more...
I got to work in smalls and train a new girl on the register too...oh boy
She seems nice and has a brain in her head, which is always a good thing...unlike the one that Jen2 has to train to be a fish specialist...I'd have fed her to the cichlids by now.
I have tomorrow off and I have plans, things to do, people to see...blah blah. He'd better not friggin call tomorrow looking for me...
Gotta go to school and talk to his homeroom teacher; get Moonshadow's radiator flushed; drop powder off for my Aunt Sue in the rehab joint;
I'll be just as busy as if I worked.
Then we had the guy installing new swipie things for the credit and debit cards. We had friggin' lines and no registers to ring people on... Why the Hell they couldn't have done that BEFORE the holiday season got started??
durwood got on my case because he sent E on lunch but I was going on break because I leave before everyone else. Maybe if he'd keep his nose out of everyone's business, things would go alot smoother...
He pissed off a little old lady customer that wanted a special type of dog and cat food, but telling her that she could come in and we'd order it for her..I was gonna give her one of my cards so that she could get ahold of me and I could order it, but durwood was hovering.
Then another dimwit bitched out Jen2 because she couldn't sell the person anything to make noise in her fishtank...WTF?! Unless you want to listen to fish farts, then there's not gonna be a whole bunch of noise in a fish tank...DUH!!!!
Bad news! The little Water Dragon died over the weekend. He turned brown and croaked. I went to talk to him today and opened the tank and pickedup the log and got hissed at by a very pissed off Blue Tongue Skink...I did apologize to him anyways...
Busy on the phone too...my sister stopped by so I could recharge her phone minutes. We tried all day on Thursday and it kept saying to try back...stupid thing...Finally got it working Hooray!!!
Then I took Mike and we did our usual Monday night take out...He got KF Whatever and I couldn't decide. I wound up going to SweetLemons for Thai food..I got fried rice and some egg rolls..cost me $15 but at least I have enough for DH to have some when he comes in and for me to have some for lunch tomorrow too.
Mike's in the other room watching Goddess knows what, but they're showing potato chips, ice cream, twinkies, tootsie rolls, ... Excuse the drool...LOL
Time for Heroes...gotta run.
Turkey Day Weekend
Thursday was fine. Lots of food. Spiral ham, 4 cheese mashed potatoes, broccoli...Loved it!!!Tons of football. The Lions came out of the gate well...like Lions and went to halftime like kittens...how depressing...The 4 o'clock game was good, but the night one was on the new NFL TV channel which we don't get...oh well.
Needed to get to bed early because of Black Friday...insert spooky music here...LOL
I was up at 4:30...Good Goddess!!! Nothing was up!!!
I managed to get there at quarter to six and the only one there was durwood... Crap!!! so I waited for a few minutes, then went in. I got to do lizards and he "helped" He dumped the water in all the snake bedding which means that by Monday, we'll have mouldy bedding that I'll have to change and/or wheezing snakes...I told Christina and she said that they needed humidity. Well only if they're tropical...Cornies, Kings and Garters aren't and don't need it...I'm gonna have to print something out online...because he keeps doing this and we've lost too damn many snakes for getting lung fungus in layman's terms...It's also known as Aspergillosis or Breeder's Pneumonia...because snakes are so close to the mouldy bedding they get full lungfuls of the spores and croak...Christina still didn't get it and it's not worth starting a war because noone wants to fucking listen to someone who might actually KNOW something that's common sense. We've lost a Taiwanese Beauty and Anasazi the Pueblan Milksnake. Fine one day and road pizza the next..
Then one of the groomers out on a butt break asked if someone could catch a snake so out I went. It was one of our cornies and the little shithead bit me when I went to grab him. He was cold as ice the poor little dumpling...so I put him in my shirt until Jen1 could get something set up for him..Shit! I forgot to remind her about feeding him...
Jen2 emailed me and brought Marylou's coffee for me... Thanks very very much...Instant human just add caffeine.LOL Never had it before and it was very good.
Just wait til the holidays get closer and I start baking. The whole store will be 300 pounds.
It wasn't really busy in the morning so Merra and I got to put together some of the bird cages...we have decided that we hate the Monet, and Van Gogh ones. They suck to put together by yourself...but they're easy if you tag team them.
I was extremely happy to see 2PM come, for damn sure! I went home and had to go to the market with Dh...I knew if I sat down for longer than a pee break then all was lost and I'd be asleep...
I was in bed by 9 and didn't haul my arse out of bed until 8:30...I needed it...I felt like I had been run over a couple of times by Sleipnir, Odin's 8 legged horse and kicked a few times for good measure...
At least there were some books left at the Tufts book sale. I did my part, buying $8 worth... I got two bags ful for that money...and when I'm done reading them, I'll give them back to the Library and they can resell them...of course, I probably buy back some that I've read already.
I've been corresponding with my partner at HT for the arts &crafts swap...I can't wait to see what she makes for me and if she likes what I make for her...we've got to know each other's likes and dislikes first though...I've already participated in a recipe swap and that was fun also. Lots of these folks raise their animals for food too. I couldn't eat Obelisk though...no friggin meat on that scrawny body. LOL
It's interesting meeting people from other parts of the country and different lifestyles also. I have friends on-line from Australia, New Zealand, Finland, Scotland, England, the Netherlands, Canada, and in alot of the US too!
Mike had a friend over today to play video games. He met him at Building 19 and he's from TN. His mom met her SO online and moved up here. He's a nice kid. And they have alot of the same interests, even though they like different video games.
That's about it for now. Gonna finish watching the Georgia/Georgia Tech game...17 seems to be a common score today...might have to play the numbers game with it...
PS. Almost forgot!!! The medium male rat had 13 babies!!! Holy Shit!!!
Wednesday!
Humpday!!!Woohoo!!!
Busier than a one armed paperhanger with flea-festation today!!!
Wouldn't you have thought that people were out buying their last minute hams, turkeys, cranberry sauce or pineapple rings instead of shopping for pet stuff???
I got to do birdies...The cockateils have learned to mimic...Goddess knows some of them have been here long enough to learn to use the registers...One said woof woof. Another said"Meow!" just like the overhead commercial...They've been brainwashed!!!
In the parakeets, aka Budgie Butts, there was a blue one all by his lonesome. I figured him to be sick or on the way out...so I picked him/her up to see what the matter was...I flipped him upside down and checked for poopy butt...nothin' He is missing a toe, but other than that he seems fine, just friendly...I'm scared...he sat on my shoulder while I finished the hex and when I showed M he climbed right up my shirt and snuggled...There is no way in Hell that I can bring a parakeet home, no matter how cuddly it seems.
And I had to play Fetch the Finch again. Seems like those white Zeebs just don't wanna stay in their cage...it took me 20 minutes to catch the little shit...then when I put him in, another one got out...no wonder I was so behind...
We were all running around like Mike the Headless chicken today! I was doing overstock, fish, reptiles, ringing, crabbys, customer carryout...the only thing I didn't do was windows!
At least I'll get to rest a little tomorrow...this living on Tylenol Arthritis just sucks. Next week, my wrist gets it's MRI or some similar friggin thing. The bone spur on the side of my foot is a little better with more expensive shoes...There's a surprise. I wouldnt' mind so much if it wasn't my left hand/arm/wrist as I am left handed. I taught myself how to be ambidextrous so that helps a little. That's why I didn't go to the orthopedist for my shoulder for so long...it was the right one and I didn't need it alot...
Everybody's watching Jericho. Pretty good show...I like Skeet Ulrich anyways. And Medium is on at 9, so maybe I'll watch that when I'm done here.
Other than that, everyone out there in Myspace Land have a happy safe and food filled Thanksgiving.
Tuesday.
No durwood today!!!
But it was busy with things to do anyways.
We had a deadle's piggy: one of my favourites too! it was brown and white and looked like a fluffernutter sandwich, which is what I called her...I found her today stiff and cold with blood on her nose and mouth. I think she stroked out, but I'm not an expert so I can't say...had to clean out the whole cage...
Buttcrack the Spiny Crevice lizard croaked too...WTF?! He was mean, but pretty...he was fine yesterday when I fed and watered him...
But on the other hand, a male medium rat gave birth to five live young...
Call Ripley's! LOL. I grabbed this weird looking rat and flipped it upside down. It had nipples...OOOPS!!! So I took her out back and set up a cage for her. None too soon either. She had the first baby within a half an hour...She was up to 5 when I left. They all looked healthy and were squeaking. She was really sweet and sat on my shoulder and squeaked in my ear...I put on her card not to let her be sold as food. We'll see if that happens...
And I got to pull ALL the gerbils out back...again...because we were supposed to be getting less evil dwarf hamsters...remains to be seen...LOL I liked the Gerbils. Blaze, Sooty, and Ashes and the single male was Pepper. They're not too cuddly and I found out that they can jump straight up into the air...YIKES!
I got to bag crickets and as soon as I put one out, they were gone!! Hungry lizards today! And I talked to a customer about chickens and BYC...hope I get another convert.
Merra's not in til 2; Lisa2 is off, Jen is off and I think Frances is working late...gonna be a long day.
Sunday and Monday
didn't post last night...store meeting and tryptophan don't quite mix...
Dh had to work, then it was off to inlaws for Thanksgiving dinner. Not bad lots of food. Lots of yelling in Greek at each other from the kitchen... OY!
I was gonna make chocolate chip cookies and Samhain toads. I had everything all set to go, then decided against doing it, so I'm at Shaw's at 9 in the morning buying cookies and a chocolate roll thingie with festive sprinkles...
At my inlaws there was actually a place to park!!! Yippee! Never happens...parking in Boston, Newton actually, just sucks!
Dh's niece has brought her current significant other...to meet the family...she met him out in CA. Any of you folks over 40 will know the name. Cousin Oliver from the Brady Bunch, Robbie Rist was the dinner guest. Whatchoo know about dat? He seems nice. He's short, not that the rest of us are sky scrapers. and thankfully not a vegetarian or a vegan, but someone who actually eats! Can it be? We didn't really discuss the Brady years, but now he's doing musical stuff...He's knowledgeable about some of the folks out there. We got into a discussion about Tom Cruise, and John Travolta and a few of the rumours that have been going around since forever...
We ate and yakked and had dessert...and coffee. Food of the Gods. Instant human, just add coffee. Needed it too. We left at 6:20 so that I could get to the store meeting. Thought really hard about skipping it, but rather glad that I didn't after all...
Onto the store meeting. Our customer service numbers suck shit with a silly straw. What the hell do you expect when there's not enough people to ring, put out overstock, clean, bag fish and do carry out...all at the same time, it seems...
So of course, Eric the brown-noser gets the first question right and gets, AHHH!!! A Petco giftcard! Shit on a stick! Are there more? Hell yeah! I even got one... That actually made the meeting worthwhile...
I was talking to Alene and she saw my FATE mag and we got to talking about Art Bell and his show and strange lights in the sky and the Door to Hell that they found when they were drilling in Siberia...she says you can listen to all the scary voices and sounds on the internet...think I'll skip that for now...shiver...
Monday...SSSD...same shift same durwood...I got to do reptiles and fish...don't know where Jen was. She was supposed to be on...oh well. She missed the meeting too...2POINTS!!!!
We put out the Jones Armadillo lizards. They went where the Gargoyle geckoes and Crocodile gecko were. All the cornies are out back being treated for mites and the Rat Snake next door has them too. Redo the bedding once again...
I was helping a customer in the back with a collar and there was a line so I jumped on the open register...I got thanked for helping, but reprimanded for going on Lisa's register...Hell, wasn't that customer service?!!! Duh!!!
Had the stupidest question yet today? An older man comes in and asks what he should feed his dog. I asked what kind and he tells me it's a Chihuahua and that's it's only a few months old, maybe 2 pounds, and he's getting it tomorrow. That was sooooo helpful.NOT!!! I ask what the breeder's feeding it and he says he doesn't know...I said that he should ask the breeder what they've been feeding it and then go from there. I said that you can't just start feeding a new food unless you want the puppy to get sick or have the runs.
Merra told me the best one though...a customer came in with a bag of food and wanted her to tell him what kind it was... Certainly beats mine hands down...LOL!
Tomorrow, Lisa's off. Merra's off and Durwood's off...thank the Gods.
But who's running the store?!!
Work...Current mood: annoyed
Me, Frances, Lisa and Dan...and a new girl, also named Lisa...oh boy. 2 Lisas 2 Jens...at one point we had two Jamies too and you couldn't call Jamie S. cuz they both were...
I don't think the Base Jumping Tarantula made it. He's all curled up in a ball and I feel so awful that I didn't catch him instead of stepping back. I sold a Leopard Gecko to the kid? He's in his 20's, who bought the original Rosy, a rose legged Tarantula.
Still looking for the Day Gecko. Maybe I should have a countdown for when we find the body...
A Green Anole got out and the only reason I caught him was because I was going that way...He wasn't really happy to be stuffed back in with the others. I didn't even see him escape in the first place...Sneaky devil...
Then we got A VISIT! So I'm trying to help the Leopard Gecko guy, scoop dead fish and get the water spots off the tanks...Couldn't I just stick a broom up my butt to sweep the floor too??JEEZE!!
I hate when we get visits especially when Durwood is on...It's like he's a hemorrhoid. Always on your ass. At least Dan was nice about it, while freaking out...His first visit by Suits, by himself.
I've learned from being in management that if the suits have a hair across their asses, that nothing you do or didn't do will make a difference. I just do my job and ignore them except to say hi. I told one of them what we had for new critters when he asked why the new reptile POG wasn't done...Not enough room to separate all the crabby guys...We have 6 cages outback with the new reptiles from yesterday and one for Red Iggys that we got in on Wed. night...
The only thing we got taken off for was the glass, so it's not that bad...Considering that we had the floors polished last night and everything was in the back rooms...including the Budgie Butts and Burrito Brothers and the Piggies and Weasels...
I'm just glad it's the weekend and I can crash a little...Mike got his report card today and I haven't even looked at it...I know it's shitty. He keeps making excuses for not doing well. didn't have a pen/pencil/marker/blood...forgot the work, didn't do the right page...blahblahblah.No excuse for D's. It's called being fucking lazy and not paying attention to what is being taught or listening to the teacher. I'm not being harsh. It's the truth. He's friggin' smart, but thinks he can just skate by...things are going to be tougher as the grades go up. If he screws around now, how's he going get by in High School? Just goes in one ear and out the other...
Work...Current mood: tired
I get to work and I see no cars that I recognize...am I by myself? Hope not...I'd really need roller skates then. But Hooray! There's really people here!!
I got to do reptiles. It's just not the same without Grovyle and Evita. And Rosey the Rose Legged Tarantula got sold last night. So all we had was Twinkletoes the pink toed Tarantula. And Psycho's psycho as ever...
Then we got a shipment of more Lizards!!! Let's see...we have the Fat tails in Evita's cage and an empty space where Rosey was...That leaves 5 different critters to find homes for...Oh boy...No room at the inn...Get back in the box...J/K.
We got Jones Armadillo Lizards, Central American Boas, California Lined Geckoes, and Venezuelan Tiger Tarantulas. We got a home for one tarantula. Then we needed to move them because we're out of heat lamps for the lizards...so I move the fattails out back and go to get the new Tiger out of his enclosure. He went up the side of the tank and out onto the floor so friggin fast!!! I screamed like a little girl! He started to go under a shelf but I managed to get a scoop under him. He's now out back and was looking around like what the hell just happened??!!
I really like the Jones'. They're like a rust coloured Horny Toad. Very prickly. Like a Uromastyx. One of the Boas is crabby also. Did the Raisin Bran thing to pick him up. Two Scoops!
Day Gecko is still MIA...have no idea where he's gone...
And a customer returned two turtles, Red Eared Sliders. She said that since she just had a baby that she couldn't pick them up...What type of nut, besides me, picks up a turtle? And wouldn't you wash your hands afterwards anyway? So now we have Phil and Lil, a 1 1/2 year old and a 3 year old turtle up to be adopted...
I keep telling myself that I don't need more fish...then I look in the tank and there's Lyretailed Swordtails...OH MY GODDESS!!! They are awesome!!! What I really need is 2 more Black Neons for my one with the bad back and that's it! My tank is overstuffed anyways...
Except for Stubby, the Caledonian Crested Gecko walking all over me and Psycho sitting on my head, nothing else spectacular was going on...
Maybe tomorrow will be more exciting...
Work...
Another lovely day at work...durwood on again...shoot me please, someone? He's been acting like he's got half a bug up his butt and half trying to get on my good side...I DON'T HAVE A GOOD SIDE!
Don't forget to clean under the water bottles. Do the piggies have vitaminC? No, I just peed in the bottles,you dope! Make sure things look extra clean, but you are ringing so you need to be done too...
Let's see...do it well, do it like a man with one cheek, or get it done by 9???Hmmm...what a tough decision. He said that he'd be in fish and would keep an eye on the register for me until I was done...Sure...right Then how come he was in the office and not ringing? I was done actually before 10:30 and Meredith was helping by ringing. Thanks, Meredith.
UPS lost some of our fish order. It ended up in Petsmart in Brockton...One of them was a $50 Angelfish... Goddess only knows what kind of condition the poor bugger will be in by the time it gets back here. We got 3 boxes and the cute UPS driver said that he couldn't get to the other ones because they were farther back...EXCUSE ME!!! But when my SIL worked for UPS she had to load her own truck so she KNEW where everything was...
And then when I was cleaning mice, I found a lovely, stinky, decaying carcass. Blech! No wonder it smelled in there. It had been there at least 2 maybe 3 days. Gonna have to talk to the person who's been doing them to be more careful and check in the litter for any Deadles'.
And the final end to my day, we sold Evita. Dang!!! Yes, she needed a loving home and Yes, she did get one, but I'm gonna miss her. How could you not miss a cuddly, will grow to 6 foot lizard who likes to sit on your neck and stick her tongue in your ear while you're grabbing aquarium plants for a customer?
At least I'm off tomorrow. More stuff to do...Need to do some more Xmas shopping for His Highness, Prince of All Halo...
No, Mike, I'm sooo not insulting you.
Work...Current mood: gloomy
Typical Monday...durwood was there. And we're running around like Mike the Headless Chicken because there's a visit tomorrow.
The first news that I got when I got in was that Grovyle was gone. Not dead, worm food, pushing up daisies gone, but gone to a nice new home. I was gonna grab him today too. Figures...
Jen knows the people and they have other lizards so I know what he's gone to the right place.
Still sad though. I had him out for 4 hours on Friday so people could see, touch and pat him...he seemed really happy about it too. at least I said goodbye when I left on Friday.
Guess I'll find another pet lizard to love... That Day Gecko is a spaz. I went to give him more crickets and the damned thing took off like a bat out of hell! Ceiling, walls, floor.. Quick too...Hopefully I can find him stuck to something tomorrow
