http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2653167/Slender-Man-stabbing-victim-12-attacked-classmates-Wisconsin-left-dead-home-adjusting-new-normal.html

The two 12 year olds who committed the crime did so to show their loyalty to Slenderman, an internet CreepyPasta (an online fiction site). Alledgedly if they killed the victim, they'd get to go to Slenderman's house in the forest and become his proxies in Wisconsin...

I have just found out that there was ANOTHER slenderman blamed stabbing. Groovy. This one was in Ohio where a 13 year old girl stabbed her mother. At least this one has had mental health issues before...not that that's too great. The other two are being charged as adults for attempted murder...As well they should...

Creepy Pasta has had to put this up on it's home page:"this site is based on fiction and it does not endorse killing."
Well no shit!! If *I* remember correctly, I knew the difference between reality and fantasy by the time I was 12 or 13....

The creator of Slenderman is "deeply saddened" by the stabbing. HIM, I feel really bad for.

But going along on this train of thought...what if Slenderman started out innocently enough as a fictional character? And as more and more people believed in the tales and stories about him, he became more and more real? Think it's impossible? Well, it's not!

In the Western Occult Traditions and some forms of Witchcraft, you can create a thoughtform to do your bidding. I'm not gonna tellya how. That's not what I'm suggesting.

In Buddhism these thought forms are called Tulpas. They are created from the Lama or the Adept's mind. It is basically thought that has a corporeal body.

Alexandra David-Néel, a Belgian-French explorer, spiritualist and Buddhist, who observed these practices in 20th century Tibet wrote that “an accomplished Bodhisattva is capable of effecting ten kinds of magic creations. The power of producing magic formations, tulkus or less lasting and materialized tulpas, does not, however, belong exclusively to such mystic exalted beings. Any human, divine or demoniac being may be possessed of it. The only difference comes from the degree of power, and this depends on the strength of the concentration and the quality of the mind itself.

Also according to her, “Once the tulpa is endowed with enough vitality to be capable of playing the part of a real being, it tends to free itself from its maker's control. This, say Tibetan occultists, happens nearly mechanically, just as the child, when his body is completed and able to live apart, leaves its mother's womb.”[11] Alexandra claimed to have created a tulpa in the image of a jolly Friar Tuck-like monk which later developed a life of its own and had to be destroyed."

I went through my expansive library and found a book by John Farris titled "The Uninvited" in which the main character, a powerful psychic, creates her own perfect man after the untimely demise of her boyfriend. An incidental yet important character is called Alexandra and she also spent time in Tibet and was deemed a Lama. She understands what the girl has done and tries to help.

In case you were wondering, I HAVE seen Slenderman and HAVE been on CreepyPasta. My DS was followed by a Slenderman like figure at one point a few years back...scary right there...since he disappeared when he got to the main street.

Remember that the thoughts that you have, whether you realize it or not, have the power to help or hurt you...

I enjoyed trying to get myself to blog every day and I was really pretty successful at it...I skipped/missed/a day or two, but managed to catch up with the rest of the class.
Our first is Lammas/Lughnasadh, then is Mabon(21September-ish)and the last is Samhain. Lammas is for harvesting the grain. Mabon is the fruits, like grapes and wine and Samhain is for the meat. It was more cost effective to slaughter most of the animals before the winter, especially your larger livestock, like cattle, sheep and swine.
Water in the cellar, just enough to moisten a frog actually. Water coming in the front window, nothing that slapping a thirsty plant under couldn't cure...
This little town, with a too apt name, and I'd never heard of, got a foot plus of white stuff. They were on the COLD front side of Sandy.
I guess they have a ski area in West Virginia...I nevah woulda thunk it.

This slightly water-logged statue of Alex Haley reading his "Roots" story is in Annapolis, MD. My best friend lives in Frederick. I need to call her and see if she's okay. She's more inland, so she should've been.
I can only hope this poor mook in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, was holding on tight to his whole existence...
Even *I* was never that freakin stupid to hang out on the beach when there was a storm, let alone a bloody hurricane!

My friend Joanne used to live in Milford CT. I remember seeing this when I lived down the beach...
This was high tide there yesterday.

The saddest thing that came out of this was the sinking of the Bounty...yeah, THAT Bounty!

It was in the movie with Brando and also in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. The diesel engines went kaput and they were screwed. The waves were like 30 feet high. They rescued everyone except for the Captain, but they're still looking for him. And a lady that was recovered has since died, which is tragic.

I give huge kudos to the Coasties. They did a pissah job rescuing everyone. That has GOT to be one of the hardest saves to ever do. The helo is hovering, it's being tossed by the wind, the basket is spinning and swaying. And you're jumping into an ocean that's sending tonnes of water over you as you're trying to save a life.

The death toll so far in the States is the mid thirties. It could've been sooo much worse. We had enough warning to get while it was still safe or to hunker down if it was safer to do so. If you went out when you weren't sposta or did something stupid, then you deserved to clean out your section of the gene pool...

Some people don't understand the power of water. Just think of the Grand Canyon...that was all water!
6 Inches of water can sweep an adult away. 2 feet deep can take your car!
I mean look at this!!! It's on TRAIN tracks in SingSing.
That boat didn't just WALK there! It was shoved by the water!
This one didn't either and this is a TANKER!!
This one washed up on Staten Island, NY.

I can only say prayers for the folks that died, thanks to all the FEMA and local agencies that stocked shelters and helped out, along with the ConEd, and Grid and whomever else is busting their humps to get things back to normal.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07249178298568321419noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2081714251682866599.post-12928027563050029622012-10-29T17:25:00.000-07:002012-10-30T15:41:19.445-07:00NaBloWriMo #29~~Hurricane Sandy~~We're sitting here in our warm little house with electricity. We have a bit of water in the cellar, but nowheres NEAR as much as you'd think. Thank the Gods.

It started out with the wind last night and a few drops of rain. We had a couple of gusts this after that were just amazing.

Looking at the local news and the Weather Channel and such, I'm amazed that things have been going on so smoothly.

A pier in Kill Devil Hills, NC, fell in:

There were pics I saw of Atlantic City which were just amazing too:

Some of the old Boardwalk got swept away. :(
It would've been nice if my sister had left the Boardwalk and taken Snooki and company... pfft.

The Big Apple had prepared. They closed all the subways at 7PM last night. Good move, I think.
This was Red Hook, in Brooklyn:
Freaking amazing isn't it?!The guy on the weather channel just said the water in Battery Park is almost 12 feet high and threatening the subway system.
Sandy Hook in NJ has water almost 2 and a half feet over their record. Yikes!!

We actually were pretty prepared up here too. Deval closed down basically the whole state. They also just closed down the Mystic Tobin Bridge after sending the tolltakers home. The Sagamore and Bourne Bridges on the Cape were gonna be closed too, if the wind gusts stayed at 75 or more. I don't like going over bridges on a good day, and this isn't a good day.

I put Obelisk out early this morning, moved the trash barrels, and she was back in before I turned around. sheesh.

The experts are saying that it's a "Franken-Storm" because it's part of the hurricane, part of a cold front, and a high that's blocking the whole mess. And it's being compared with "the Perfect Storm" of 91...the one that got turned into a movie with George Clooney and one of the Wahlberg boys. It sorta reminds me of the Blizzard of 78 which I was around for too.

That was actually filmed on the Nawth Sho-ah up in Gloucester, pronounced Glaw-stah, for you outta townahs. ;)

I have friends in New Jersey, CT, my best friend lives in MD. I had a friend call last night from Alabama wanting to know how we were. He saw on the Weather Channel that we were expecting Sandy. I know more folks who live in New York State and one on Lake Erie itself...she's expecting hell...
One of my friends in NH lost her power this after. My SIL lives a bit north-er than her and was getting nothing.

We had the lights flicker just a bit ago. The surge guard went off and DS' computer and the fish tanks. DS is pissing and moaning that it won't stop beeping. Like it's a freakin conspiracy against him by the universe. ugh...gonna be a long night...

I have been offering up prayers for all my East Coast buddies. I really hope everyone comes through okay.
They were doing a show on Caravanning in Cornwall and the next one was one about motorbiking through Viet Nam.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_Gear:_Vietnam_Special
We saw one on MAKING a caravan on a car, which was Series 15 episode 4. Make SURE, doubly and triply SURE that you have your Depends on, because it is Piss Your Pants funny.

Top Gear is a British show that first started in 77!! And relaunched in 02.It was originally a show for gearheads, and strict car enthusiasts, but it's morphed into something different and completely outrageous.

The hosts are Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. Jeremy is the brains of the outfit compared to the others. Hammond, also known as Hamster, and James are there for comic relief. It's shown on BBC America. My son is hooked, but then again, I started him off with Monty Python and the Holy Grail. hehehe

Hamster's on the left and James is on the right. Jeremy is in the middle.

But this was the one thing that sent me completely over the edge. It was part of the Viet Nam Special:
http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lre05nthNR1qjirrjo1_400.gif

This what was said:

Richard: I just put my face in your crotch!
James: So you simultaneously headbutted me in the gentleman’s region and snapped the prow off the galleon. You complete numpty Hammond.

That was it!!! I laughed to hard I was crying and my ribs hurt for days...

I hadta look up what a "numpty" actually was because that was a new one on me...I know alot of English colloquialisms, but had never heard this one.
This tidbit comes from Urban Dictionary:

numpty A person, who, for their public personality seems as if they can be compared to the pleasant 'Humpty Dumpty'... but when in the comfort of being alone in their room takes out the Jack Daniels and wacks off to a taped episode of Sesame Street.

This seems more like Hamster to me though:

A person who never has or never will have a f*ing clue what he is doing
Bobby Gould

Scotland's favourite word is "numpty", according to a survey conducted for a children's charity.

I'm not really surprised, because it's a very useful and versatile word.
I hadn't done a craft show in way too long. Last one was Pagan Pride Day in 2010 and I only sold 1 Item, a Dionysius flavoured DreamWeb with grapes and a wine bottle.

It didn't even cover my table fee...pfft.
The next two years I was too busy having surgeries...

The last non-witchy craft fair I did, I wanted to just take everything outside and burn it...they were selling cheap CRAP and Stuffed animals dipped in scented wax.

They were selling like hotcakes!!! I don't get it.

And Swarovskiy crystal enough to singe your retinas...ugh. Not that I don't like crystal, but not every freakin table!!

I had my DreamWebs and Tshirts...sigh...I sat for 8 hours playing tiddly winks with my bellybutton and some M&M's...I was SO disappointed and sad and discouraged. I wound up talking Tarot cards with a teenaged girl who wasn't having any luck either...

But YESTERDAY was soo different!! I actually did well!! And I enjoyed myself! which should be the name of the game...

It was easy to get there, though I did have trouble actually LEAVING town. I hadta stop at CVS and get a mirror. Bloody things have gotten expensive!! THEN I started out again and realized that I didn't have my money...so I hadta head back home again...

I was sposta be there at 9 to set up...I got there at about quarter past, so that wasn't too bad. I didn't bother with the misbegotten EZ Up. I set up and arranged my stuff, then the gal in charge, Jodi who was hosting, called for a circle. We walked a labyrinth, then held hands and said prayers...I could feel the energy...don't be mean...it was really good!

This was our hostess. She owns Blue Angel Healing which is where it was.

It was a fund raiser to help a gal who had a brain tumour and to help with her bills.

There were psychics and readers and massages going on, but I didn't get a chance to get anything done *pouts* I DID manage to have a taste of some really pissah chili...it was almost as good as sex. Pulled meat, no beans, chunky cheese, and then cornbread crumbs on top...dear Gods it was wonderful!

There was kid yoga, and belly dancing. My sister and her niece came and belly danced...I didn't take any black mail pictures...The second troop of bellydancers did it with Scimitars...yeah good luck with that...They put them on their heads and danced...

I could see myself giving me a splitting headache...

There were drummers and African drummers and dancers. The African Dancers were spectacular!

You can see part of my display and my head...hehehe

In addition to having a great time in the sunshine, enjoying the music and company, I also had SALES!!! w00t!!
I sold 2 necklaces, 1 DreamWeb, and two Witch Bottles. I was THRILLED. I even made back my table fee; which is ALWAYS good.

And at the end there was a double rainbow. One was rightside up and the other looked upside down...at least to me.

I wanna thank Danielle for thinking of me...It was nice to see her and her friends.
She said that it was easy to do...umm. I tried this after...BULLSHITE!!!
Unless I have ankle dragging knuckles like a MacGregor instead of my little T-Rex arms...

Or I was like 7 feet tall...or more...

I can't set the damnable thing up by myself.
This was almost me this after:

I tried doing it the Polish Way. Get inside and try and shove it up...That actually worked pretty well, but I couldn't get it all that way because of my vertically challenged-ness.
I sold 8 books and only bought 1. Good for me. I'm trying to weed out some of my stash.

I sold 2 on Herbs, and one each on Creative Dreaming, Pendulum Dowsing, Tarot Cards, a Spellbook, Auras, Feng Shui.

I bought the Crow Magick Tarot though...

I still have a tonne for the next auction, whenever that might be.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07249178298568321419noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2081714251682866599.post-47785973711797838682012-10-25T14:04:00.003-07:002012-10-25T14:04:55.415-07:00NaBloWriMo #24~~Trick or Treating~~I finally bought some candy! Usually I've bought a couple of times because the house locusts get ahold of it and nom nom nom it all within a few days.

I have learnt over the years that it's better to wait until closer to the holiday because you can only hide it for so long...

The only downside is that there's not much left. CVS only had Snickers Peanut Butter Squared and not the regular. And the coupons sucked! $1 off 3 bags that cost $6 each...no friggin thanks! You might as well hand out Chicken Lobstahs and Prime Rib!!

I used to LOVE to go out trick or treating with my kid. Unfortunately one year, I didn't get dressed up and got more candy than HE did...I was banished!!

So I'm relegated to giving out candy...pfft...nowhere NEAR as much fun...except for seeing all the really little ones in their costumes.

One year, after it was over, some cretins egged our mailbox...If I had looked into my crystal ball they woulda gotten THIS rather than a Butterfinger or M&M's.

At least I have my stash of Candy Corn to get me through...
But they certainly deserve to be there...
The Detroit Tigers of the American League and the San Francisco Giants. They played well this season. They don't have the bajillionty dollar payrolls of the say the Evil Empire or even the Red Sox. I dunno much about the payroll of the National League, but it's been the Phillies, the Braves and the Mets for a while.

I'm a Red Sox girl all the way, but I was quite happy that the Tigers kicked the Yankees to the kerb. It was gratifying actually.

The Cardinals went to the big dance last year, so it was sorta time for someone new.

Zito is pitching as is Verlander...it seems like Verlander has stayed in his pod or somesuch...because he's not doing so well tonight...I am rather disappointed.

But it's a long series, so you never know...

AND it's the same matchup in Game 5...so maybe it'll be different. Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07249178298568321419noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2081714251682866599.post-75991672356301836202012-10-22T16:29:00.000-07:002012-10-24T19:15:42.622-07:00NaBloWriMo #22~~Another American Legend has Crossed the Veil~~I got home from work today, sparked up Ye Olde Lapptoppe and saw that Russell Means had died...dang...I remembered him from one of my Fate Magazine articles. I hadta look up which one though;
it was way back in 96 with an article entitled, "Russell Means, Mystic Warrior."

He was one of the leaders of AIM, the American Indian Movement. If you're old enough, you'll remember Wounded Knee...he was there. He was actually a member of AIM right at the beginning in the late 60's. He was always part of a controversy. He really didn't pull any punches, as well he shouldn't.

AIM was originally started to be a protest against the United States' treatment of the Native Americans and to make the government live up to its treaties to the various nations. We all know how well THAT has done...

Wounded Knee turned into the precursor of WACO, and the Branch Davidians. A giant mess! But that's what happens when your intell is shite and noone knows what they're really doing. That's why an innocent person has been in jail for the past 30 some years. Leonard Peltier was a part of AIM and got railroaded for allegedly killing 2 Fibbies which he didn't do.

Also out in good old Pine Ridge was Annie Mae Aquash. She was found dead out there after she had also participated in Wounded Knee, and was a squeaky wheel. The feds dragged their feet after figuring out it was murder. A bullet hole in the skull doesn't usually indicate death by exposure which was the first COD. KWIM?

Russell Means held a press conference wondering why so little was being done. AIM was blamed for Annie Mae's death at first too because it was alleged that she was an informant but there was never any proof of that.

He also said "That before AIM, there had been no advocate on a national or international scale for American Indians, and that Native Americans were ashamed of their heritage." AIM has sorta faded away, but now the Native Americans will stick up for themselves and act like the proud people that they have always been.

Russell Means was also a movie actor. His first big role was "Chingachgook" in Last of the Mohicans. He was also in the movie "Pathfinder" and had a voice acting role in Pocahantas as "Powhatan."

These are some pretty good quotes from him:

The one thing I've always maintained is that I'm an American Indian. I'm not politically correct. Everyone who's born in the Western Hemisphere is a Native American. We are all Native Americans.
All European tradition, Marxism included, has conspired to defy the natural order of all things. Mother Earth has been abused, the powers have been abused, and this cannot go on forever. No theory can alter that simple fact. Mother Earth will retaliate, the whole environment will retaliate, and the abusers will be eliminated. Things come full circle, back to where they started. That's revolution.
You see the one thing I've always maintained is that I'm an American Indian. I'm not a Native American. I'm not politically correct. Everyone who's born in the Western Hemisphere is a Native American. We are all Native Americans. And if you notice, I put "American" before my ethnicity. I'm not a hyphenated African-American or Irish-American or Jewish-American or Mexican-American.

It went from cold and wet to muggy...ugh. But typical New England.
I saw folks going around with sweat shirts and long pants with those horrid Ugg things...to shorts and t shirts. Until it starts snowing I have sandals on.
I'm one of those hot blooded people...I even sleep with my feet out of the covers.

The only really good thing is that my work called and I can come back for training...I won't have any hours, but at least I've got my foot back in the door...

And I'm doing a Craft Fair on this up-coming Saturday. It's a Fund Raiser for a woman with a tumour. So it's for a good cause.
http://blueangelhealing.webs.com/

Today was also visit MIL day. We hadta stop on the way because DS wanted a specific coat from the Army/Navy Store...
This is quite similar to it. He looks awesome in it. But then again he looks awesome in everything...just ain't fair...

Toldja I had a boring weekend...
Not like 99 cents a minute either. She does readings on line and she's also a team mate from an online handmade site...do your own homework, I'm not gonna do it for ya, ya lazy bums.

Well, I had it on Thursday. She was a bit late but it was the phone company's fault...

She reminded me of my husband's cousin...they have the same accent. oy.

She used the DruidCraft Tarot mostly:
And the Silver Era Tarot:

Neato decks. I haven't found MY deck yet...
She wanted to know about what "Historical Accuracy" meant to me...
well, I'm a writer, non-published, and I research the SHITE out of things.
Even if it's fantasy, I wanna know all that I can about what I'm writing about so that I can describe it accurately.

She also wanted to know about a lake that was near me.
I walk at a pond near the house and some of those musings were what made up my most recent novel I'm writing.
She said that I should start doing that again cuz I seem to be blocked and that would help get it going forward.

She went on to say about DH and DS and MIL and SIL...

She ALSO mentioned a female that had passed over in her early 50's with the last name that had a D in it.
My mother's maiden name had a D in it and she bit the dust 2 days before her 54th bday.

Before you go off on Cold readings and all that, she had a few more surprises...

Another person that hangs around had a fluffy mutt:
I have my Great Grandmother's taxidermied dog Kinxsie in the cellar. Long story. My Great Grandmother was the one who got me started on the crafting trail.
An older man with Blue Eyes and Blue energy:
My grandfather was the only one in the direct family with blue eyes and one of his Masonic Lodges was the Blue Lodge.
The last one that really absolutely floored me was that there was a man around that had something to do with trains:
My great grandfather, who died in 1950, used to work at a train crossing in my town. Only my friends knew that.

Freakin freaky isn't it?

I've HAD a cold reading done and watched them being done. I've seen Sylvia Browne, John Edward, James Van Praagh, and good old Miss Cleo. I watch the Mentalist faithfully and understand people's tells when a comment hits the mark.

I'm a skeptic until proven otherwise and I DO believe in this gal.
Little Latex boy from last season(Tate) played by Evan Peters is a new character.
Jessica Lange is as deliciously evil as she was last year, being a sadistic nun.
Zachary Quinto didn't show up yet. But he was AWESOME last year as part of a gay couple.
Lily Rabe (Nora) the wife of the loony psycho Dr Frankenstein wanna be, is playing a nun.
James Cromwell is new and playing a doctor who makes Nora's hubby look like a boy scout.
Joseph Fiennes plays a Catholic Monsignor.

There's a couple of other new characters, too...We'll see how this unfolds.
Adam Levine was in the first episode too. He sorta got into an armed robbery so to say...

Instead of a creepy gothic house with really neat stained glass in bright sunny California, it's now set in a creepy gothic asylum for the criminally insane...Insane is certainly true. There's sexual suppression, alien abduction, complete nut jobs, lesbians and all sortsa other lunacy.

I might just enjoy this one even more than last season. I've read a couple of reviews on line where they didn't like it:
It was too slow.
Poorly acted...
How many liked the first season after the first episode. I mean it's not like this is Mob Doctor or Animal Hospital or any of the other crap that gets cancelled after the first episode.

As for me, I'll be staying up late for the nightmare induction of Asylum. But for now, here's from here.

And it's set on MY coast...hmm. We're typical for creepy asylums...There's one in Danvers, right near where the Witch Trials were. Built in 1878, it closed in 92, only 20 years ago. Eek. The frontal lobotomy was special of the day there.

It's rumoured to be haunted, no shit! Flickering lights, apparitions, footsteps and doors that open and close by themselves...
There was one in Worcester too. It was built even before Danvers,(1870) and closed in 1991.

This one I didn't know about but it's rumoured to be haunted as well. I'm gonna take folks' word on that.
It's in Taunton. I guess it was a hop, skip and jump away from Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen on the atrocity scale. There were "blood baths" don't even wanna know, and shock therapy. It was sposta have cured the inmates by the green and serenity, but there were murders and suicides galore. Allegedly you can hear the screams of the escapees who got caught, lights flickering and hands in the windows.

There's sites and books on some of these and other asylums in the States. So feel free to look them up...I've done my part to freak you all out.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07249178298568321419noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2081714251682866599.post-32389444931784834502012-10-18T09:02:00.002-07:002012-10-18T09:02:07.805-07:00NaBloWriMo #16~~Cross THIS off my Bucket List~~Holy Crap!! There was a bit of an earth shaker, t'other night...For reals, not just a metaphor either...And it wasn't David Ortiz sliding into base.

I was sitting at the dining room table, minding my own beeswax, playing Bingo on Facebook...I know too thrilling for words.

My arm, I thought, started shaking...huh? I don't have Parkinson's or Huntington's Chorea or St Vitus' Dance or any of those...But the time I figured it out, the screen door was flailing on it's hinges, the inside door was rattling around and the windows were shaking...HOLY SHIT!!

The sound was like a B-17 or a C-130 going over around treetop level. It was most like the rolling of thunder without the lightning...Just look at the SIZE of these things!!!

New England isn't exactly the Earthquake capital of the world, thank the Gods, but we DO get them every now and again. This was the first time I actually felt it too.

Earthquakes are rare in New England but they're not unheard of. In 2006 there was a series of earthquakes around Maine's Acadia National Park, including one with a magnitude of 4.2 that caused boulders to fall from ledges onto Acadia National Park's loop road. One of the park's trails was closed for three years because of damage from the quake. The strongest earthquake recorded in Maine occurred in 1904 in the Eastport area, near the state's eastern border with Canada, according the Weston Observatory at Boston College. With a magnitude estimated at 5.7 to 5.9, it damaged chimneys and brick walls and could be felt in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.East Coast quakes are rarely strong enough to be felt over a wide area. A quake of magnitude 5.8 on Aug. 23, 2011, was centered in Virginia and felt all along the coast, including in New York City and Boston. Experts say the region's geology can make the effects felt in an area up to 10 times larger than quakes of similar size on the West Coast.

We had a decent sized one in August of last year that was centred in Virginia. A friend down there who makes carved eggs lost most of his inventory, unfortunately. I didn't feel anything.
This one was closer, near Portland, Maine. My sister in an outlaying region of Boston felt it. She said it was like her house was "undulating." Her ex MIL felt it in Rhode Island too. My SIL in Laconia felt it too. My DH in the other room didn't hear/feel anything, nor did my DS who was wandering with a pack of friends. sheesh. Ruddy oblivious human males. pfft.

Originally they said it was a 4.5, but down graded it to a 4.0...
http://www.wickedlocal.com/weymouth/topstories/x1292876872/Local-police-get-plenty-of-calls-after-quake-shakes-South-Shore#axzz29fNhJ1gD

"Experts say the region's geology can make the effects felt in an area up to 10 times larger than quakes of similar size on the West Coast."
That makes me feel more secure...NOT!!!

Hadta take DS to the pediatrician for his annual checkup. He's 19 but still can go to the pediatrician. He can go til his 26! He's now 5'10" and 160 pounds. I can still lift him...he TRIES to lift me. I'm over 200 pounds of attitude.

DH was getting a tooth filled in town...so he was off when we got home.

DS wound up going out with friends while I stayed home and made "cheese ends." It's mac and cheese made with the deli ends of cheese. It's yummy and yummier depending on the type of cheese I get.

I try and make it on Monday nights cuz DH works Monday nights and Mac and Cheese of any type is not his fave.

My version is sorta like the Greek Dish called Pastitsio. It has a Bechamel sauce, which is sorta like an Egg Custard. It's very good.

Since you MIGHT ask, here's how you do it:
Cook Pasta according to package directions. Drain and let sit. In Pasta Pot, melt butter. Add Flour and cook until golden, about 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Gradually add Milk, continuing to stir until smooth. Remove pan from heat. Whip Eggs in a bowl until frothy. You can use a blender or a food processor, but I use a wire whip...SLOWLY add 2 Cups of Milk mixture and beat well. Gradually return Egg/Milk mixture to Pasta Pot, stirring constantly until mixture is smooth and thick...Return to medium low heat. Add Salt and Pepper and Nutmeg.
This part takes FOREVER!!! It's at LEAST 10-20 minutes before it cooks and you do have to keep stirring or you burn it...
I'm usually ready to give up and send for takeout by now. LOL But at that point it thickens up...an easy way to tell is when you're stirring and you can see the bottom of the pan. And it feels like you're stirring pudding...

Mix everything together...This the easiest way to make it...
Pour into a Greased 10X15 baking dish. Spread evenly and pat down. Add Grated Cheese to cover the top of the Pasta mixture. Sprinkle with Paprika to make it pretty.

Bake at 350 for an hour or until top is Golden and Puffed. Cool for 20 minutes before cutting...

Makes 8 Servings.

The real Pastitsio has meat and sauce. DS is fussy and doesn't like sauce...but it's still good.

A second CEO has declared that if his employees dare to vote for Obama that they are gonna lose their jobs. Come ON!!! That is so NOT FAIR!!!

The first Bastage sent an email to all his employees:

Subject: Message from David Siegel
Date:Mon, 08 Oct 2012 13:58:05 -0400 (EDT)
From: [David Siegel]
To: [All employees]
To All My Valued Employees,
As most of you know our company, Westgate Resorts, has continued to succeed in spite of a very dismal economy. There is no question that the economy has changed for the worse and we have not seen any improvement over the past four years. In spite of all of the challenges we have faced, the good news is this: The economy doesn’t currently pose a threat to your job. What does threaten your job however, is another 4 years of the same Presidential administration. Of course, as your employer, I can’t tell you whom to vote for, and I certainly wouldn’t interfere with your right to vote for whomever you choose. In fact, I encourage you to vote for whomever you think will serve your interests the best.
However, let me share a few facts that might help you decide what is in your best interest.
[...]
So where am I going with all this? It’s quite simple. If any new taxes are levied on me, or my company, as our current President plans, I will have no choice but to reduce the size of this company. Rather than grow this company I will be forced to cut back. This means fewer jobs, less benefits and certainly less opportunity for everyone. So, when you make your decision to vote, ask yourself, which candidate understands the economics of business ownership and who doesn’t? Whose policies will endanger your job? Answer those questions and you should know who might be the one capable of protecting and saving your job. While the media wants to tell you to believe the “1 percenters” are bad, I’m telling you they are not. They create most of the jobs. If you lose your job, it won’t be at the hands of the “1%”; it will be at the hands of a political hurricane that swept through this country.

How the HELL can he even do that and sleep at night?!

Now this second Asshat has stepped up to the throne of douche-baggery, also sending his employees an email:
To the best of my rather limited knowledge, voting is sposta be a private, secret, thing. There is NO WAY that an employer can threaten, even INDIRECTLY, your jobs if you don't vote HIS way!

Another blogger wrote this way back in '06:

Talk about coercion usually centers on lead-pipe scenarios, where somebody issues a direct threat to a voter. Nice kneecaps you have there … be a shame if something unfortunate should happen to them.
But coercion needn’t be so direct. Consider this scenario: Big Johnny is a powerful man in town. Disturbing rumors swirl around him, but nothing has ever been proven. Big Johnny is pals with the mayor, and it’s no secret that Big Johnny wants the mayor reelected. The word goes around town that Big Johnny can tell how you vote, though nobody is quite sure how he does it. When you get to the polling place, Big Johnny’s cousin is one of the poll workers. You’re no fan of the mayor, but you don’t know much about his opponent. How do you vote?
What’s interesting about this scenario is that it doesn’t require Big Johnny to do anything. No lawbreaking is necessary, and the scheme works even if Big Johnny can’t actually tell how you vote, as long as the rumor that he can is at all plausible. You’re free to vote for the other guy, but Big Johnny’s influence will tend to push your vote toward the mayor. It’s soft coercion.

You all know that moment in time when you're like "What the PEACHES did I just see?!!" And you stop dead and look again...
This is the Wiki definition:

A double-take is a specific body language gesture that sometimes occurs in reaction to a surprise.
The double-take occurs when a person glances at something, turns away, then realizes that what he has just seen is unusual or surprising in some way, and turns back to look at it again, often adding additional body language to express surprise.
Double-takes are used much more frequently by actors during theatrical, film, or television performances than they occur in real life, and double-takes in performance are most often used in comic situations or contexts.

I've double-take'd myself a few times...

Driving down Quincy Avenue and I see in front of me, a guy riding a bike with a really cool shirt that looks likes he's got a parrot's tail painted on the back of it...
I pass him and he really HAS a parrot sitting on his shoulder as he's riding his bike down Quincy Avenue...

Or when I see a man that reminds me of a character in a story that I'm writing...I saw his name on his card. I follow him out of the store and call him. "Ari?" He turns around, smiles and walks away.

Lotsa a times, it's when you go to the store, especially WallyWorld where the true meaning of double-take really comes to live. These are all from Massachusetts so we've got em here too.

This one here is quite local, Hanover, or Plymouth, I think...That really IS Steven Tyler. My DH has waited on him a few times at Lechmere. I waited on his missus/ex-missus at Petco. I've waited on Troy Brown of the Pats, and Ben Orr of the Cars in other stores. And YES they DO cause double takes if you know who they are.

I got Double-Take'd when I went into Petco for the first time with my Pet Chickens: Slifer the Sky Dragon and Obelisk the Tormentor.

I had some women call in and complain that she'd get Psittacosis from having chickens in the petshop. They never touched the floor, and I had newspaper in the bottom of the carriage...so she could just go pound sand. That, and the fact that PARROT family is the usual culprit that give/carry Psittacosis, bloody twit. The mgr that liked me told her that they were leashed and were more than welcome to be in a pet shop since they WERE pets.

I HAVE a picture somewheres, but I can't find it...pfft. This pic of a cute piglet on a leash will hafta suffice...cuz I betch s/he got the same reaction.

Yesterday I got a couple too. I wore my Black Death T shirt to get my Flu shot.

C'mon, you GOTTA see the irony in this! Wearing a piece of clothing advertising an historic pandemic to get a shot to help prevent another pandemic...

My second double-take of the day was when I walked into Papa John's wearing a long, denim duster...It's PERFECT for hiding your sawed off shot gun, axe or blasting rod.
I mean please, I don't look like one of the Trench Coat Mafia, nor Harry Dresden...Harry's so much cooler though. This duster I think is made out of lead...it's heavy as Hades too. It might just be spell infused or bullet proof, but I'm not gonna take any risks either...
They've been on the floor for the past, well, depending on the bag, 6 months to a year to almost 2 years...well I DID have a pretty decent excuse...I've been having surgery when I shoulda been doing other stuff.

In 2010, I wrecked my shoulder moving a fucking tank of evil hamsters off a shelf in the back room of work...They heard me swearing next door I'm sure...what a pain rush...After cortisone shots and stuff like that I had to have surgery on it. ugh

Whilst I was waiting for THAT to heal enough so that I could do Personal Torture, I ended up on the dining room floor. Then had a pacemaker put in because of my wonderful arrythmia...ugh. So I couldn't lift the bags to move the books...

In 2011, I finally bit the bullet and had the work done that my heart needed...double ugh. When you've had your chest taken apart and your giblets rearranged and some things replaced. It took 6 months before I could cough or sneeze without fearing my scar popping open and my guts pouring onto the floor...that and the fact that it hurt like a bastard. So carrying 30+ pounds of books was NOT in the picture, or the frame or anyplace ELSE in this particular art museum.

SO yesterday, I decided that I FINALLY needed to move some of them and put them in the cellar so that I'd have some room to move in the parlour. So that I didn't forget what I had, I got the lightbulb idea to put them into my Shelfari account! Easier said than done though. Shelfari got bought out by Amazon...great. I could LINK my Shelfari account and my Amazon account...BUT I forgot my Shelfari account password.

I hadta do the old "forgot the password send me a new one" deal. That took a long time...But it finally came through and I was able to put in some of them. I still have 2 bags that had been on the floor, carried 40 pounds of books downstairs in a box, and have another shopping bag full that I took out of the car. The other shopping bag is for my sister's bday and Christmas, so that doesn't count.

Out of the two bags that I listed, there were only TWO that I couldn't get to go in either by ISBN or ISBN 13 or title or by author...I wasn't in the mood to put in a whole thing about them, so I figger that I'll accumulate a pile, then do them all as one batch.

I have, according to Shelfari, all the books that I've listed on my page, is 305! eek...
http://www.shelfari.com/o1518127466/shelf

I think the link will work...if not, take my word for it...

I got a shitload of books...

I'm actually trying to sell some...TopHatter, an auction site has a group that auctions books. I have a flock in this one here with the Enchanted Arts group:
http://tophatter.com/auctions/7151
This was today's for the Book group...I got out bid on the King Tut book...pfft.
http://tophatter.com/auctions/6745

We'll see how things go...

I am a biblioholic...and there is no cure...
Isn't it a beauty?!

I put it together in 20 minutes after reading the instructions. Guys don't do that, ya know...That was including losing a screw in a pile of leaves...pfft.

I even tried it this morning...the grass was really wet because it had rained for 5 freakin' days straight. So I didn't do a great job. It was just a shake down tour...

I'm not keen on the bag thing...it doesn't hold a lot and it kept coming off the spindles. I think I'd rather just rake when I'm done.

I took a break did inside stuff, then sat out with Obelisk. I finished the front yard after supper.
DS came to the door and is like "You hafta go over the same spot more than once? I hate this thing already."
Well, fuck you kid! It's MY toy. Go play with the gas one and let my have my old fashioned one...

I was almost done when DH comes to the door. "I think you should stop now..." I had a small patch left to do...but I was enjoying myself!! I LOVE to do outside stuff!

But my new toy worked fine. Obelisk is unamused with the interloper in her domain...but what can ya do?Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07249178298568321419noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2081714251682866599.post-28611176525497249642012-10-11T16:18:00.000-07:002012-10-11T16:18:14.045-07:00NaBloWriMo #10~~Time to Change the Air in my Head~~I completely forgot to blog yesterday. I wound up cleaning in the kitchen a bit...I found lids to 3 pans that I had been missing Yays!

I had been wondering where they had gotten off to! I can honestly say that I am NOT Suzy freakin homemaker. I don't belong on Hoarders though, or some OCD programme where they have their canned goods alphabetized. I'm somewhere in the middle.
But that's to be expected cuz I'm a crafter. I can honestly say that I am a book hoarder too...but it's a good one...It keeps me out of the petshops, adopting fish...Unlike my best friend who has a Betta obsession. I think she's got 5 or 6 now.
The leaves are changing to fiery bright colours, and we don't have the heat and humidity of the summer. You can wear a light jacket or a sweatshirt in the morning and take it off in the afternoon.
I have TONNES of Sparrows, Doves, and BlueJays hanging out at my feeders. I even have a Carolina Wren who ratchets his/her displeasure when I come out.
This is Obelisk the Tormentor and Miss MoneyPenny way back in '07. Obelisk is the one in the front. The funny thing is was that Penny was so small that she could get lost in a big pile of leaves and you'd see a little head pop up like a periscope. It was too funny.

This is Pond Meadow Park. Where I love to hang out and walk. I even got hubby walking there after his hip replacement.

These were taken last fall, because I was going into have open heart surgery in November. Originally it was sposta be in October, but they hadta push it back because the doctor had some other patients that got put in ahead of me. We they WERE kids and it WAS at Childrens...I asked for Samhain. I thought that was pretty fitting, but he was off that day. pfft.

There's deer there, chipmunks galore, snapping turtles from Woolworth's size to Gamera size, squirrels both red and grey.I haven't seen any garter snakes in a while, but I DID see a Northern Water Snake this past year.
She was hanging out in Great Meadow. One time I saw her feeding her fawn. It's wonderful to see them up close. Except when they're coming after you, but that's okay too. We've had em in our yard too because our street backs up to the Park.

I hope that one year before I go I get an antler, even a piece of one. I got coyote fur this spring. Looked like there was a difference of opinion.

My wonderful DH got me a wicked pissah gift this past week: A Troybilt Push Mower...that's right. One of them old bastages that you hafta do all the work with. I used to mow my lawn down the beach with one growing up. Ours was yellow and white and green with no bag so you hadta rake after you were done. This one has a bag and levels!

I can't wait to use it! My front lawn needs to be mowed this week and the back one too...Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07249178298568321419noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2081714251682866599.post-79739672732026241182012-10-08T11:16:00.000-07:002012-10-08T11:29:45.886-07:00NaBloWriMo #8~~Columbus Day?! Come on!!!Since I didn't know any better in school, it was considered a very good thing because he "discovered" the "new world" and brought civilization to the savages...

Umm..really?I had always heard of Columbus:

IN 1492
"In fourteen hundred ninety-two
Columbus sailed the ocean
blue.

He had three ships and left from Spain;
He sailed through
sunshine, wind and rain.

He sailed by night; he sailed by day;
He used
the stars to find his way.

A compass also helped him know
How to find
the way to go.

Ninety sailors were on board;
Some men worked while
others snored.

Then the workers went to sleep;
And others watched the
ocean deep.

Day after day they looked for land;
They dreamed of trees
and rocks and sand.

October 12 their dream came true,
You never saw a
happier crew!

"Indians! Indians!" Columbus cried;
His heart was
filled with joyful pride.

But "India" the land was not;
It was the
Bahamas, and it was hot.

The Arakawa natives were very nice;
They gave
the sailors food and spice.

Columbus sailed on to find some gold
To
bring back home, as he'd been told.

He made the trip again and
again,
Trading gold to bring to Spain.

The first American? No, not
quite.
But Columbus was brave, and he was bright."

Oh boy is there tonnes of shite in this!!!
He wasn't looking for India though. It was Japan! Just a bit off...dontcha think?

The "Indians" were Arawak not Arakawa. AND it was a catch all term for the ones that were amenable to the Spaniards. Caribs were war-like cannibals that didn't agree or wanna have anything to do with the Spanish. Isabella said that only if the people were better off being slaves, they could be taken as slaves. If they were labelled Cannibals, the land grab and massacre were a given.

A look out first saw land, not Columbus, even though he said that he had seen it the previous night and didn't want to get anyone's hopes up in case he was wrong...Columbus got the lifelong pension for being the first person to spy the "New World." Rodrigo de Triana, the guy who actually DID got squat! No credit, no nothing. Part of that might have been because he was Morisco, a Muslim that converted to Christianity so they wouldn't get the old heave ho from Spain and Portugal.

He didn't trade ANYTHING, but stole some dozen or so natives to show off to Ferdinand and Isabella. Only about half of them made it.

Brave. Nope. Cocky bastard maybe.
Bright. Deffo not. He had steel swords while the natives had stone or shell knives and daggers. I won't even discuss black powder weapons.

Who are REALLY the savages??

As for the pompous twit that thought he DISCOVERED the "New World". Well, lotsa folks got there ahead of him...
"America had often been discovered before Columbus, but it had always been hushed up."
Oscar Wilde

Folks crossed from Asia over the Bering Land Bridge, tens of thousands of years ago. And there were already Aboriginal Tribes living on both sides of the Strait. The Yupik people of Russia and Alaska had several migrations back and forth 3,000 years ago.

The Vikings came over around the year 1,000. Leif Erickson wrote about his adventures in Vineland(Newfoundland), which was just a hop, skip and a jump from Greenland. Then there's the Kensingston Rune Stone found 1898, in Minnesota which was dated to 1362. Along with the Newport Tower in Rhode Island, and the Dighton Writing Rock in Berkeley, Massachusetts.

There's St Brendan the Navigator who took a few brothers on a ship with him for 7 years on a voyage to find Eden or Paradise about 530 CE. But in 1976, a bunch of intrepid gents set out from Brandon Creek on the West Coast of Ireland in a leather curragh. They DID make it, so it IS possible, but no definitive proof like at L'Anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland.

To really and truly, fuck with peoples heads, look at the Olmec sculptures...

Whom does HE look like??? Looks rather African to me and to a bunch of other folks...

There's an author called Frank Joseph that edits a magazine called Ancient American which explains some of these hypotheses.

This "holiday" was named "Columbus Day" to garner votes for FDR from the Italian Americans in 1937, not just to commemorate this day of infamy.

I've heard it now called "Indigenous Peoples' Day" I sure like that better. Especially since I fell in with a crowd of NA buddies. Most are Cherokee, but there's Creek, Blackfeet, Ojibwe, Apache and a couple of others who make up the Etsy Native Forum Team.

I've also heard that some folks want to name today, National Explorers Day, which would include Space, the Arctic, the Antarctic, the Oceans, inside the Earth, and the Moon and Mars. I think this is the best of them all...

"Stop selling ThunderCRACKER toys

This is an online petition to stop Hasbro from selling toys with racist slurs.

It all started last week when my husband and son got back from the store. My son proudly showed me his new toy, a blue jet robot. He told me that its name is "Thundercracker."

I was taken aback. If you don't know, "Cracker" is a racist slur used against people of caucasian lineage.

It's the equivalent of the "N" word. I told my son that it's not right and we gave the blue jet a new name.

I couldn't think of a reason why Hasbro, the company who made the toy, had to attach a racist slur to their products.

There are certainly better choices to name a toy and besides "Thundercracker" does not even mean anything.

And as a mother who wants to raise a decent family, I find it unacceptable to attach racist slurs to any product, especially toys aimed at our children.

Let us all unite and urge this irresponsible toy company to cease promoting racial discrimination and corrupting our children.

We are asking Hasbro to recall all of these offensive "Thundercracker" toys before it does more harm than good.

We are also asking Hasbro to change the name and find a better choice that will not offend people of any race, nationality, or creed."

REALLY Lady?! Aren't there better petitions to be made than over a toy's name?!

And for the past 3 decades, no Caucasian (who're the main fanbase of Transformers) has felt offended or insulted by this. And yet this dipstick of a human is here ranting and raving that it's OHNORACIST.

Stay Classy ma'am.

Funfact: Thundercracker's name is derived from him producing loud cracking noises like thunder.
Funfact2: Crackers are a form of snack food.
Funfact3: You're an idiot, honestly."

Another great one is this:
"Next thing we know, this nutjob's gonna be screaming that Cliffjumper is promoting suicidal tendencies, Sunstreaker is promoting streaking around naked in bright daylight, Warpath is promoting warfare, Blades is encouraging folks to slash stuff, Hardhead has blowjob connotations, Thrust has to do with thrusting, ahem, Dragstrip is linked to dragqueens stripping, Swindle makes children cheat, Onslaught promotes violent massacres, etc etc."

This is the toy in question...he's a freakin JET!!!Sonic Booms and all that:

You can get some more headshakes about this dame's complete disregard that the name means squat...Hell I AM a cracker! and a Mick and a Polack. Doesn't bother me in the least. I am comfortable...I KNOW most of the old Irish and Polish jokes.

BUT I can and will say that if anyone calls anyone the "N" word that is bad!!! Even when they call each other that. On Parenthood the other night, Crosby and his wife had to explain to Jabar why that isn't a good word.
I dunno...political correctness is making things so difficult. Gods help you if you say "Merry Christmas" to someone who's not a Christian. I won't jump down your throat. You could tell me happy Kwanzah and that would be okay. "Happy Holidays" sets my teeth on edge. But some folks get all bent outta shape. You can't even have a public Christmas tree anymore because an atheist'll bitch...I won't even get started on all the holidays that used to be pagan and got glommed onto to keep the masses happy...
